Thank You Mikael. You have made a very effective course here for How To Make Epic Music. I have seen Mikael Baggstrom videos on YT but this UDEMY Epic Music was a great unexpected surprise to find and learn from. I find the information you provided was well structured and made for quick learning of a complicated style of music to figure out on your own. If you have the proper VST collection & DAW, but never wrote modern virtual instrument orchestration style music and would like to learn then this is the place to advance. If you have music theory tools that generate midi & or can play piano/keys it would be a plus to take these courses! You will rapidly improve. Thanks again and best of luck to new students! Trying to go from music producer to composer is not easy but has been made simple here with How To Produce Epic Music it is awesome to have learned this.

The problem I have with Mike's Udemy courses are the materials. The accessibility is low. The automatic transcripts are really frustrating and not of much use. An actual example transcript in this music composition course ... " ... must start kind of sexually ... but doesn't have to be in the supermarket..." Okay, what? Sure, Mike's Swedish accent doesn't help the auto transcription. But I mean, surely Mike must be reading off his prepared notes - why not just share those? Forget these courses if you are hard of hearing. And even if you can follow the voice somehow, there are no review notes or materials, nada, and unlike with Udemy's competitors, you cannot download the videos to save and watch offline later. A bit sad really, because the content seems quite good - when you can follow it. Oh, the suggestive phrase above, turns out he said something like "... must start a kind of dance actually ... but doesn't have to be super much ...". The Udemy auto transcript just totally butchered it.

This was the most valuable and helpful class I have ever taken in music, and probably the best teaching I've had in any subject. To give an example of how high the quality of instruction is here, let me just say this: a couple years ago I spent 100 dollars on the Hans Zimmer Masterclass on composing and all he did was just talk about very vague things like moods and habits and random tips for writing music, but he NEVER gave concrete examples of how a template for a certain style of music could be used to compose and then showed us the process of filling out the template with specific sounds and techniques. Here, with the superior instruction and information in this course, you will have all of that information with someone who is - in my experience - a much better teacher and who also seems to truly care. When Mr. Bragstrom is walking you through each point of instruction, you get a sense he really cares and wants you to understand. The end result - I understood and learned a lot, and am so thankful for this course and the wonderful thought and time that must have went into it.

Mimo wszystko naprawdę przyzwoity kurs, z ciekawością się go oglądało.

A great course. This guy really knows his stuff. I especially loved the emphasis on layering and I will be layering all my compositions a lot more from now on. Really great teaching style, explains all the techniques well. Do not hesitate to buy this course. I am off to write some music!

The course shows clearly orchestration and octave spacing for lower instruments and tips for upper voicing structures. Also showcases some of the sound libraries which is a good to know feature. It moves at a reasonable pace without duplicating unnecessary information.

Mike does a great job as usual. A very well organized schedule, a lot of tips and tricks, very solid knowledge and very good live examples. Anyone who wish to develop their composing skills in this genre will definitely make a lot of use of these material. At least, you will be a great listener of epic cinematic music for sure :) Hands down, 5 stars!

I enjoyed this class a lot, and it gave a lot of good suggestions of instrumentation, etc. to get a big epic sound in your compositions. So far, this one and "Composing Dark Music" are my favorite courses from this instructor.

Good tips to follow and apply to my epic music composition. It's not for the complete beginner because a few terms went over my head because I know next to nothing about music theory but if you have a little experience composing a track of this kind of music then the course is beneficial. I will walk away from this course a better composer of epic music than I was before taking it.

By Matthew Buckenmayer on 12/30/2019

Perfect. Many great points learned here. Description of different kinds of Epic music is great! Always thought of it as just one style but now understanding the difference of Action Battle or Legato Mighty and Divine for example. Also great to see the layering of melodies and rhythms and ostinatos as I commonly wouldn't double or layer in 8ves. Another good pick up I gained is the contrast of sound and silence. Too often my melodies would be too active as I was thinking I needed continuous melody, but now using silence as a part of the melodic line things have become much easier to complete and now also have more character than before. I could go on with more but I don't want to write a book. Thanks!!!
