Course Description
Remember when you couldn't walk? Of course not. Who can?
Learning to code is much like learning to walk...except it happens much later in life.
Never coded before? No problem.Entrepreneurs like you are a rare breed. You create incredible businesses and come up with ideas that change the world.
Technology has made the 21st century, the century of the entrepreneur. Thanks to the power of the internet, you can reach a global audience in minutes.
The question is...do you have the skills to be able to take advantage of this incredible opportunity?
If you're starting (or have started) a business in today's tech driven economy, then you've got to understand the code that's driving your business.
- Imagine asking others to create your software but you've no idea how it works?
- Imagine not knowing the time and effort involved in realizing your idea?
- Imagine having an incredible idea but you don't have the skills to get it started?
Instead of spending infinity boring you with the intricacies of a multitude of languages, Coding For Entrepreneurs will teach you the exact languages you need to know to launch any type of eCommerce site & build landing pages that convert browsers into buyers.
The best way to learn is by doing - you'll never learn anything if you sit and watch videos or read a PDF all day. We get you into action and enable you to achieve results immediately.
You'll get in introduction in:
- Python
- Django
- HTML
- CSS
Coding is extremely logical. Take Python for example - it reads just like the English language less a couple of odd characters.
We Put Special Emphasis On Django...Why?
- It's fast, simple, effective, secure, and ideal for "perfectionists with deadlines"
- Built-In User Login (authentication) System
- Web-based Admin system (built - in)
- Template system that allows basic knowledge of HTML/CSS to design the front-end.
- Growing Community for Help/Advice/Best Practices .... and freelance clients (or jobs).
- Easy to implement & Launch
But I've Been Told That I Need To Learn C, C#, Objective C and Java?
The truth is that you could learn all of these languages and use them to further enhance your coding.
But why bother?
You're an entrepreneur, NOT a professional coder. Would you rather learn how to code something quickly and start building your business empire or spend years debugging something that may never launch?
It's time to take your future into your own hands and learn how to start Coding For Entrepreneurs today!
How To Be Ultra Successful With This Class- Watch the videos and follow me and do exactly as I do- If you get stuck, rewind and rewatch while copying me again
- If you're still stuck, ask questions! I WILL respond to you really quickly!
- Months later if you get stuck, come back and watch the videos all over again :)
- Do NOT take notes. Implement what is happening as you see it.
- When finished, repeat the classes. Start fresh. Delete Everything. Do it again
- Repetition is key: it's like practicing to master a golf swing or a basketball shot
- When you get stuck ASK QUESTIONS - I'll help you
- Remember that learning this will put you light years ahead of other entrepreneurs
Windows Users:
"The easiest way to take this course in terms of learning is through a Linux VM. On Windows, download Virtualbox and a Linux .iso (e.g. Ubuntu). Once downloaded, open Virtualbox, follow the steps to create a Ubuntu VM, select the .iso from your hard drive, install Ubuntu and you're good to go with all the commands mentioned in this course. The only extra command I've had so far to install pip is 'sudo apt-get install python-setuptools'." -- Harry (student)

It all started with an idea. I wanted freedom... badly. Freedom from work, freedom from boredom, and, most of all, the freedom to choose. This simple idea grew to define me; it made me become an entrepreneur.
As I strived to gain freedom, overtime I realized that with everything that you do you can either (1) convince someone, somehow, to do it with you or (2) figure out how to do it yourself.
Due to a lack of financial resources (and probably the ability to convince people to do high quality work for free), I decided to learn. Then learn some more. Then some more. My path of learning website design started a long time ago. And yes, it was out of need not desire. I believed I needed a website for a company that I started. So I learned how to do it. The company died, my skills lived on... and got better and better.
It took me a while after learning web design (html/css) to actually start learning programming (web application, storing "data", user logins, etc). I tinkered with Wordpress, believing it could be a "user" site, but I was mistaken. Sure there are/were hacks for that, but they were hacks/work-arounds and simply not-what-wordpress-was-indended-to-be. Wordpress is for blogs/content. Plain and simple.

Great course, useful contents throughout, easy to see how this will save me time. Suggestion for improvements: - More organisation (things are being done and explained on the fly so codes are a little less structured) - Might be better to go from big picture summary then details, so a brief overview of how web hosting and building web applications come together.... before diving into set up Django, Bootstrap... and creating the web app.

Confusion at the beginning setting up the environment (old versions of software and no guidance about versions except Django). No source code available so if you mistype something and don't have the experience, you may have trouble finding your error. More like a quick run through about setting up a web site using Django.

I’m pretty far through the course. One benefit is that he goes quick but also provides a functional tutorial that you can use right away. He builds the site and shows you every step along the way. For me this has been one of the most helpful to just get started and to get exposure to coding.

The course starts out to be great: plenty of explanation of what is happening while he is setting up Python and getting started with Django. But after a while, especially in the middle of Session 4, Justin starts to slack on explaining what is happening. You will need extra Googling to understand everything that is going on. This course starts out as a beginner course, but ends up as a more intermediate one. I'd only recommend it for people who have basic coding skills, and for people who are willing to do a lot of research beside the course. For people without these skills, well you will probably get lost halfway through.

Great course for an overview of development process start to finish. Course pace was very good, not too slow and well focussed. I had some trouble replicating with my version of Python and associated which was a little frustrating as it meant that I couldn't fully deploy, but I think the problem here was all user induced! Maybe some links to supporting troubleshooting, tips and common problems would have helped.

The topics are covered very quickly. This is more of a quick overview or starting point. Depending on your skill set, this class may give you everything you need, or it's just an overview/intro and you'll need more classes to get more comfortable. If you already have a little experience with some of the topics, this is a great refresher. If you're a tech savvy entrepreneur that has no time for elaborate in-depth lessons and you just need to get started - this class is for you. If you're not tech savvy at all and have no familiarity with the topics, I could see this class being very frustrating for you. The instructor moves quickly. He elaborates here and there, but there are many places where he doesn't have time to explain all aspects of what he's covering. This is completely understandable, because if he did, the class would take forever. There are a few places where I wished he would have elaborated a little bit more. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the class. It touches a lot on stuff that I've learned in other classes, but he puts it all together and covers a few more things that none of them have so far. I'll be coming back to this class in the future to revisit some of the topics.

Very good course for introduction to Django and Python, and also Twitter Bootstrap which is great and powerful theme with endless possibilities. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to take their HTML and CSS knowledge to the next level and don't know where to start yet. The first 1/4 of the course could be improved, but after that it really takes off and goes into really good stuff. Good job Justin.

If you've never learned how to code, like me, a lot of this course wont make sense. You'll just be typing in what the teacher is showing. You will be able to make a landing page, exactly as shown in the videos, but you wont know how it "works" or how to change anything. Some of the longer videos, the teacher mumbles slightly, as if thinking out loud. It's okay, but a bit confusing.

I really liked the beginning and then it sort of got all hay wire, I saw questions from people not answered from months. Of course I do know this is the free version so it is not feasible to reply to every query but I do hope in the paid version the replies are much more frequent. Furthermore I would say replicating the things taught was fairly not that easy, and then at the end you wouldn't know what specific code does or why are you writing. Just blankly copying each step will only make you go as far as creating what was shown in the tutorial.

Although I have not finished this course yet, I took it as I intend eventually to be selling ebooks on specialized topics on the Net within a year and am a do it your-it-yourselfer and do not like ceding control and too much profits to outfits if I can learn to do website ecommerce setups myself. In the first sitting I have gone through half the course and found myself happily engrossed to the exclusion of all else around me. Mr. Mitchell's voice is pleasant, his obvious attention and thought he has put into this 'free' course for the beginning student with a smattering of familiarity with programming is quite apparent. He covers a surprising amount of territory, concepts, and programs in the lessons and works hard to constantly and continually keep the student abreast, aware and realizing how all these seemingly disparate programs and languages fit together and how they WILL work together every step of the way, helping the student to sustain faith that 'there will be a happy ending' to the initial chaos one feels at first. My computing skills in the area of languages goes back to Fortran, FORTH and BASIC more years ago than I like to admit and as a professional who has had NO need to program since those days some 30 years ago I found this course comfortable and 'master-able.' And I thought "Django" was the Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhart! I can highly recommend this as a well designed intro course to its entitled subject that will motivate the future e-vendor to continue to take further course and become adept and a confident master of setting up a commercial site her/himself!
