Course Description
How can you understand what someone else is feeling if it isn't happening automatically?
How can you work with emotions more effectively?
Discover ways of improving your relationships by using emotions effectively with empathy.
Empathy is one of the key building blocks of great social interactions.
A lot is talked about regarding empathy, but there is very little practical support to help you to understand empathy and help you to develop your skills in empathy.
Empathy is the art of seeing the world as someone else sees it. When you have empathy, you can understand what a person is feeling in a given moment, and understand why their actions make sense to them.
Empathy is a core component of emotional intelligence. It helps us to communicate our ideas in a way that makes sense to others, and it helps us understand others when they communicate with us. Empathy is one of the key building blocks of great social interactions.
The course covers the key components of empathy, why it's important, and how to integrate empathy into your personal and professional life.
The course goes into detail covering
the relationship between empathy and emotional intelligence
the science behind empathy and how this can be put to practical use
effective behaviours to build empathy - interpreting body language and active listening
strategic ways that you can work with and develop empathy
This course provides an in-depth exploration of emotional intelligence and the importance of everyday empathy in the workplace. Through video lectures, interactive practical activities and quizzes, you will be able to identify and develop your emotional intelligence and empathy skills to communicate more effectively with others and build strong, healthy relationships.
You will be able to apply the knowledge gained in this course immediately to your professional and personal live to effectively interact with colleagues and enhance your working environment.
Learn how to develop your empathy by understanding other people's viewpoints and perspectives to build effective, authentic relationships.
PLEASE NOTE - This course is NOT for you if you are not prepared to work through the practical activities that make up a fundamental part of the course. Empathy cannot be developed just by watching the video lectures. It requires you to do some reflective thinking, to get some feedback and to discuss your development with others. I'm afraid that you won't get the best from the course unless you are prepared to do this.

Robin Hills
Hi. I'm Robin Hills. I am an emotional intelligence coach, trainer and facilitator with over 40 years' business and commercial experience. I provide knowledge and skills that help people understand themselves and others better.
I have the most comprehensive range of on-line courses based on emotional intelligence in business - not only on Udemy but anywhere on the internet. I am not teaching any other types of course as I am a specialist in emotional intelligence and it is the focus of my business.
In early 2024, I was presented an Honorary Doctorate in Advanced Studies in Psychology in recognition of my contribution to online Emotional Intelligence training, which started with Udemy back in 2014.
My courses go beyond the fundamental basics of emotional intelligence covering many aspects of how it can be applied in day to day work to lead, grow and develop people in ways that build authentic relationships.
My work takes me into small start-ups through to large corporate multi-nationals and into the Public Sector with financial institutions, government departments and health departments, as well as charities. This provides me a practical understanding of how emotional intelligence works and applied in the real world, enabling me to keep up to date with relevant issues.

I like that there were checks to get you to think about your own use of empathy and empathetic learing. The role playing execerise was very useful. I found that I was still focused on solving problems and not willing to confront behaviours. Now I know what I need to work on.

I liked the AI role play but feel it may have been unrealistic how the approach was assessed. I am being told by the AI to set expectations and rules without a reference of guidelines or established rules. I can't make up rules for her to follow that don't exist in the company and not apply it to everyone else on her team. Still, I appreciate the opportunity to apply these concepts.

In lecture 16 when discussing different signs of communication and how the volume of voice can be used to show emotion, he yelled "LOUD" and this really hurt my ears as a headphone user. Other than that everything was fine.

The content is good but I think you need a better aurator for the course

I am a big fan of learning and reviewing everything about emotional intelligence, many good points some I have heard before but it is always good to hear such positive things about how other view the world and how to get them to open up more

Content was thorough, succinct, and clear. Thank you so much! The only suggestion I have is to consider adding a section regarding neurodivergent folks. We often number among those you mentioned who have trouble discerning others' emotions and, or may have that mask face issue.

Very easy to understand the core meaning of empathy and how to achieve it practically! Two hours well spent! I believe everyone could gain a thing or more from this course! By applying these practices a better work environment & society can be achieved!

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is an increasingly important trait in the workplace and everyday life, and this course explains empathy which plays such a ket role in one's overall EI. The course content is very nicely explained in easy to understand language.

This course on empathy provides a great overview. It delves into the inner workings of our emotions and the feelings of others and how to understand and respect them. It also covers how to exercise active listening when responding to others in everyday situations. I recommend it to anyone seeking to improve communication and relationships.
