How to Make a Freaking iPhone App - iOS 10 and Swift 3 (Udemy.com)

I believe some of the info in this course is out of date. However, with the help of the instructor I've been able to modify the info to what is current. I would not typically do this with other classes. However, with Nick this is a blessing in disguise. Nick is a great instructor that keeps you engaged and I'm able to build apps that work. Because of this, I've been able to adapt from older to recent code and this is a great skill to have. For this reason, I would recommend Nick as an instructor on Udemy. You will not go wrong. He also has more recent courses as well. Get anything with him.

I really enjoyed taking this course! It is very simple, easy to understand and highly recommended for beginner developers. It may start off a little slow when covering the absolute basics, but one of the bonuses of this course is that Nick always starts with a clear sketch of his app and stresses the importance of having one on hand. He also walks you through using APIs such as Firebase and a few other CocoaPods module to create clones of some of the most popular apps. The SnapChat clone, as well as the non-AR PokemonGo clone, were my favorites apps that we created in this series. A very practical and useful implementation of using Map in your apps! He also goes over Core ML, which is something that students will need to know. His teaching style is down-to-earth, practical and friendly and he doesn`t come off as an "elite instructor who easily knows and can do everything". I think his lessons and approachable personality are just what beginners need in order to get started in App design! Looking forward to his next course! Job well done!

I've just finished this course and I must say I really loved it. Nick explains everything very understandable and clearly, he is very likeable and motivating all the time and was always handy and responsive when some problem occurred or when you needed his help. xCode and Swift are constantly developing and slightly changing, so it is not possible to avoid some small issues and differences between the videos and the code of the app in the actual version of xCode - even with the big effort Nick puts into making this course. Sometimes I lost track for a moment, but there was always someone who helped me, either Nick himself or my classmates that ran into similar problems few weeks or months before me. I recommend to check Q&A for each section, I found it really helpful. In conclusion: It was fun from the start to the end, from the building the easiest apps to the more complex ones. Nick's enthusiasm is very contagious so now I'm hungry for learning more and I picked up Nick's follow-up course "Intermediate iOS 10 - Advance Your Skills". Nick, thank you for this terrific course! Let's see what happens next...

Teaching by showing how to create different projects really helps. Makes it look really easy and I feel like I've accomplished a lot through the videos. Though I did struggle a bit when trying to create my own app, but I guess, practice would help me get there, and this tutorial made it REALLY very easy for me to have a starting ground for my app. I just loved the tutorial. Nick is really funny and shares a lot of really useful and practical tips throughout the tutorial. I highly recommend this tutorial to everyone looking to learn iOS. It's a lot of fun while learning.

Great course, tons to learn. Nick is a good teacher, and falls right in the middle of practical application and explanation. However, the later one gets cut short sometimes. While, the premese of the course is to get a person to create an app, it does feel like there's a ton of information, that gets talked about, but never in detail. I think students should be pushed to do excercises more often, maybe optional ones, but still, I would welcome a to do list for each course, without answer, because, it really helps to learn when your'e trying to figure out on your own. Several suggestions from me to the course author (Nick): 1) To supplement the info you touch upon add links to literature, so that people can read up on it. Or watch in-depth tutorialon topic. 2) Challange students to complete tasks, or improve app. Ipersonally would always improve UI and functionality, like code safety and UX. The tasks should be optional (some might just want to write an app). Suggestion to students: if you're serious about learning try "hedging your bets" use several tutorials (Udemy, Udacity, TeamTreeHouse, etc.) and books (Swift apprentice and etc.) , because you will get a more rounded knowledge. Additionaly, if your planning to work with other developers you''d encourter different styles of code and different styles of code. Nick also has a terrific course on Swift syntax called "Swift 3" you might want to take that one before, if your planning to work with Swift seriously. You might feel that there's even more things you don't know than before, and that' completely normal. There's this saying about aquiring new knowledge "If your not confused and don't have questions, you're doing it wrong". Nick is not only a great person but also a great instructor! He takes you form zero and answers question really fast. I've taken other courses and tried making apps just with Google and it's a mess. take this course, it's well worth it! It's worth mentioning that you probably won't be making triple A apps just with this course but it's a great start. I think the only issue I had twice was that two lines of code were no longer up to date but the nice people of the forums had answered some of my question.

IF you just wanna build an App .... Nick is your guy . Simply an outstanding teacher Update review . If you really really wanna build an app without getting into unnecessary topics . This course is for you ! . Nick takes you step by step without assuming you have coding background to make useful apps and inspire you to build your own apps . I am student in college of law and i learn swift as a side thing . I never understood how things work even tho i took couple of courses with longers hours and higher rating with bigger group of students but after just finishing 30% of this course i feel like i can make any idea come across my head into an app.

Nick, you're a great teacher, I really enjoyed learning from you, and sooo like your style of teaching with gags and jokes, but I can't put 5 stars. First, compared with other similar courses yours course too short, little modules, secondly, it is not given time design, for example a module on the Sketch or Photoshop... ets., and thirdly absolutely no update, would like to see in this course while I would introductory modules to develop a watchOS and tvOS. Hopefully, next year, you must pay attention to these issues and will release a new course, which is just explode! Once again many thanks and success!!! P.S. Sorry for my bad English (

This course was very fun and exciting and the instructor is absolutely fantastic. I felt like I learnt a lot and and had fun too (especially when building Snapchat). My only issues were that after the Snapchat section the code given in the lectures did not work with the latest Xcode Version 8.0 (8A218a). As a result, I was unable to build a Pokémon GO like app as well as iMessage and Siri, which was extremely disappointing. And when a question is posted in the questions section, it takes a long time to get an answer. Overall though, it was a fantastic course, teacher is terrific, and I really had fun!

I like (a) the "picture-in-picture" of the author talking; makes the monolog more interesting; (b) repeatedly working with TableView; (c ) quite challenging tutorials like Pokemon Go; (d) strong & useful github introduction and use. I loved all the typing completion though many times if I blinked I missed it. I would have like just a brief discussion of some of the other 'completions' which come up. I would have liked to do the Firebase -Snapchat Clone but the set up with cocoapods was too complex; maybe it failed b/c I was using xCode Beta 8. I have mixed feeling about there not being zips of the completed sections, especially Snapchat and Pokemon. So anyway, excellent course which I highly recommend. I didn't give it five stars since I rarely, rarely do that :-)
