Course Description

In this course, we will start with a blank project and start by learning the basics of a third person character and camera controller popular in modern action adventure games.  From there we will add the essential elements that are common to most games such as menus, settings, music, saving, and loading.  Next we will add an event system capable of producing complex branching dialogues and cut-scenes complete with animation and camera movements.  Then we will add an inventory system which will allow the player to pick up money and items, see them in an inventory menu, drop, use, or equip their items, and trade them with NPCs.  Lastly, we will allow characters to engage in combat; attacking with weapons, blocking with shields, dodging, shooting projectiles, taking damage, and dying.

The speaker is very very quiet

That took me a few months to complete. Like the previous reviews stated the videos are not completely connected; this will be issue in section6. However the comment section will give a guide to help solve this discrepancy.

Good intro, But I feel like it could of added How to get Godot, I.E. from The website or from Steam, or even Itch.io. However, most people who got this course should of already known that but I feel there would be a small group that could use that input, and explain how to install it from the site. Just my View point. but good all around.

I've already started on my Godot journey, so most of this was review, but it filled in some gaps that using Godot and watching YouTube left. I really appreciate a cohesive front to back treatment of tech subjects. Thanks!

The best and most beneficial Godot course I have taken so far. It actually made me do a reusable game skeleton with most features you would use in any game. Even though it might be challenging for a complete beginner, as the courses section not necessarily follow each other 1:1 and there is no final code base available, apart the instructors expertise it was actually this what made me learn and understand what/why I was doing, just to simply get going. Thank you very much!

One of the best Godot 3d courses! Very complete, even if there are a lot of subjects that are treated here. Even for more experienced game dev, there are a lot of good practices and tricks to take away! I absolutely recommend it! Really well done, Thomas! I can't wait to see more of your content!

Cutting 1 star because resources were not provided. I wanted to skip the section 1 and 2 as I already have experience with Godot. But since resources or code was not provided for each section I had to go through them. EDIT: I just updated rating. I went further into the course and I liked how instructor takes time to explain little stuff. Highly recommended course for Godot.

This is a pretty complete course with much better quality of code and content than I've seen in any other game development courses. This was clearly written with the intent of having something that is reusable, unlike other courses that have material that is completely useless outside what they are teaching. If you want something that you can really use to make something to release, this is what you should be getting.

I have look around for a course like this. There are some amazing teachers in the Godot community. I find Thomas to be one of these. The content covered has empowered me to create the style of game I want. For me, learning is fun and I study for enjoyment and a sense of achievement. And I am getting a lot of satisfaction studying from Thomas. I did study IT at university and I would have gladly sought to have Thomas as my lecturer. He is very knowledgeable, My final comment is Thomas shows integrity and a willingness to help his students. Thankyou for great work Thomas.
