Learn How to Play Lyre Harp (Udemy.com)

It's a great course, designed with a total beginner in mind. The lessons are bite-sized so there's no overwhelming amount of information given. Mikael is very enthusiastic and makes learning so much fun. I can't believe that I'm even learning to read music which has always been a pet hate of mine but it prepares the student to be able to play tunes from sheet music for harps in the future. The course focuses on the very basics needed to learn to play the lyre harp. You learn to play melodies with one hand which is all you need as a total beginner. Mikael gives you enough to learn to handle the lyre harp and instils a love for this beautiful little instrument. My goal is to learn playing with two hands and progressing on to a lap harp at a later stage but for now this course is perfect! And I love the Swedish folk song that Mikael teaches, it's a nice touch to introduce us to his culture and is very beautiful! I would love if there was a follow-on course building on this beginners' course.

I am taking the course now and have learned so much despite having only have watched two videos. I feel excited and curious which is a sign of a good teacher.

I love the course! It is easy enough for people who have absolutely no experience with music, and it teaches me stuff i thought was way beyond my ability to learn at my age. So much fun Highly recommended!!!!!

This is an introduction to the basics. The "advanced" techniques are... basic, in fact. I have found much more techniques on free YouTube videos so I feel like I've wasted my money... It can still be a good course for people who have no clue about how to play, because it is simple and well organized. But don't expect to go really far with this. You won't learn to play with both hands and you won't discover the many styles available.

I have never played the lyre and I got one as a gift. The classes were very well explained and I think it is a great course to start playing your lyre if you don’t know how to start.

I enjoyed this course. It was a nice overview. I would have given it five stars if the sheet music was available as a download. I can’t read a moving screen while also looking for the right strings and reading music is easier for me than memorizing. I guess it might be a copyright thing. It would also be nice to have a list under resources of where to go next or what is available for purchase where including music. I can’t find very much and one of the books I bought is written in a very unfamiliar style (not similar to the style he showed on the screen).

I have always desired to learn the harp/lyre, the music is beautiful. I actually bought the instrument for a church play of King David.. Now I am learning to actually play it myself.. Thank you for your easy understanding lessons. I will be able to play music unuo my LORD Jesus.

I am loving this! My goal is to learn the lyre because I have a lot of songs that I would like to put to music. I really appreciate learning not just how to play harmonies but also how to insert them in. All of the content at this point has been very clear and easy to follow so that I confidently picking up my instrument everyday instead of giving up. Thank u

Very good instructions for tuning. I have played other instruments, so I was able to tune easily, but I know it is difficult for many. The instructions here are clear and helpful. Very good instructions on holding the lyre, which made it much less awkward for me. Very good instructions also on timing and exercises for dexterity. The lyre is very different from piano and woodwinds which I already play, so I need these exercises to build my fluency with this instrument.
