A pretty good course that covers a decent amount of topics in brief detail. I have taken a few courses with this instructor and his audio quality and articulation has always been great - this is no exception. The only reason for 4.5 rating is because the course is a little outdated UI wise. The information given is all still up to date so this is only a minor negative, but some newer Blender/Unity users may struggle to find certain UI buttons etc without a little googling.

By Anonymized User on 8/28/2019

Makes a lot of assumption of knowledge of Blender UI and keyboard shortcuts that I constantly had to pause to look up as a new user. In the early steps this was worse and mostly fixed in later steps. Better explanations like why am I hitting O then G would be great. Or after I have extruded a section how do I shrink it again?

The course was very nice and John is a comforting presence along the way, explaining how to build the scene and how to move within it. However this course is not for complete beginners: it shows up how to create a low poly scene in Blender and later on in Unity, using concepts as Proportional Editing and Colliders which are not deeply explained in details, they are just used as they are. I had fun in following the lectures and it gave me also a more open-minded perspective of how to approach with Blender when you wanna design something new in low poly and this is probably the most appreciated thing of this course.

+ Voice is clean and have nice tone (not squeaky or coughing all the time) + quality of video is superb (you would never guess how many courses can't or won't afford even 720p... try to find some caption in the interface when the quality is 480p + compression ;) - here's everything top notch) + it's fast and teaching you all that was promised. If you're good with Unity and came here only for blender part then actually you can finish this course very quickly. - I would add tips and keys in some visual form as embed part of video since it would be easier to catch all shortcuts. Overall: I highly recommend it.

Lesson does what it says. You can make a low-poly scene for fun in 30 minutes. NOT A BEGINNERS COURSE. Think of it as a Bob Ross painting session, except for low-poly modeling in blender and looking at it through Unity. You'll need to know the basics of Unity and Blender if you want to understand what's going on and keep pace with him, but don't worry; there's no mind-blowing moment when he transforms what looks like a mistake into a stunningly beautiful waterfall in the middle of a jungle that started off as a forest.

This is a very good overview of an asset production pipeline for Unity games. I just wish there was a little bit more of an explanation about what's happening in Blender. I see things happening but I don't know what shortcuts are being pressed while you're doing it.

The course didn't disappoint. I got exactly what I expected. However, if you have never used Blender or are fairly new. The course may seem to move fast...it is 30 mins right?. I'd suggest at least having a grasp of Blender's hot key assignments and knowledge of some of the more common mesh editing tools. If you come equipped with those things you'll move right along with ease. I will definitely look for more tutorials by this author.

I will be honest.. I expected this to course to be very cheap and that I wouldn't take much away from it. I was entirely wrong. Super awesome course for such a short learning experience. Anyone can take these abilities and do so much with it. I am very happy. In the beginning of the video you did skip telling the viewer what a couple keybinds were. I very quickly figured it out though with a simple google search. Thanks again!

By Haivlis99 Lee on 7/27/2016

It was a good tutorial and I did enjoy the style. I did learn a lot, but would like hear on what to press when performing task such as rotating or extruding objects. Overall great short videos.

By Yasha X on 4/16/2016

Very easy to understand, and the end result looks surprisingly good. Its definitely worth the 30 mins or so to go through if you want to practice building a simple (but quite stylish) low poly scene and import it to Unity. What I have liked about this tutor (I am also taking one of his other Blender courses) is that his lessons are very practical and well paced and I can quickly get results without having to wade through hours of theory. Note that it probably helps that I have a (very) basic understanding of Blender already, but I don't have any modelling experience so these kinds of lessons are pretty much perfectly suited to my needs.
