Course Description

Learn how to make a modern Android App with this new course on Android development in Java.

Most tutorials and how to's on Udemy show you the basics of app building, but they don't show you how to use the latest technologies and libraries.

Most projects and jobs require you to know how to use the latest libraries. This is what this course is all about.

The purpose of this course is to give you a practical example of how to use these technologies, all while building a simple example app.

We will learn about:

  • MVVM architecture using the Google recommended Android Lifecycle Extensions

  • Dagger2 for dependency injection

  • RxJava as a reactive framework

  • Retrofit and JSON for remote server communication

  • Glide for seamless image loading

  • Unit tests to test the application and make it stable and robust

  • And we will build everything in Java

If you want to get that job as an Android Developer, you need to know how to use these technologies.

If you want to build an app that scales and is robust, these technologies will make your life easy in the long term.

Sign up today, and let's learn how to properly build a modern Android Application.

I don't like to use the 3rd-party lib like ButterKnife. It's better to use the built-in features of Android to achieve the same result. That's because the project would be in trouble if the 3rd-party lib is not maintained any more.

This tutorial contains all the components MVVM, Retrofit, RxJava, Dagger2, Unit Testing, Glide in a single project. It is a good course for android developers. It will be more good if you provide more projects in the course. Thank you.

Android development is more of a hobby than a career path yet, but this helped me to take a next step towards learning technologies that I've heard about so frequently and was always eager to find out what functionality they offer. As I was already familiar with MVVM pattern, it was quite easy to follow and understand the lectures and I do believe each lesson is very crucial as these things are core assets that drive all modern applications. In conclusion, I'm glad I could finally learn about them with easy-to-understand examples. Thank You!

I think this course is advanced, but Up to Chapter 6, it was very basics and class is very very slow.. In many cases your taking more time for explain basic things.. instead of course objective Hope to see more on MVVM, Dagger , RxJava & more in next sessions..

You will get through advance practices in basics. If you want to kick start with basic overview of MVVM, Dagger2, and unit testing then it is a good course for you. If you have already basic knowledge of these topics then you cannot get to learn in detail in this course.

Showed important features of different types of libraries and how to integrate them together in an easy to understand application. Simple app with architectural design that can be used in real world applications.

This is a good project driven course for getting foundational knowledge on different concepts like RxJava, Dagger and Unit Testing. The kind of project you are likely to be asked to be implemented for an android job interview

One of the best courses on Udemy for advanced Android application development. It cover all the technologies that are required for the current job market. Got a really good introduction to MVVM, separation of concerns, Unit testing etc. Looking forward on more courses on each of the individual technologies used in the course, especially Unit Testing for Android developers. A big thanks to the instructor to make Dependency injection seem so simple.

I'm just in the beggining of this course and so far it's been really worthy. I'm already have some experience in Android development and I was searching for more specific and modern content in this field. Here I found exactly what I was looking for. The classes are short and the approach is very hands-on. The instructor speaks in a straight and clear manner, which is especially good for me who's not a native english speaker.

Brilliant! This is by far one of the best tutorials on an Android related topic. Catalin is a superb tutor, he has covered all the topics viz MVVM, RxJava, Retrofit2, Dagger2, Mockito, Glide, Dependency Injection and Unit Testing as mentioned in the course syllabus. These are some of the highlights of the course that made it really useful for me: 1. The course is thoughtfully designed and well structured. You end up creating a successfully working app using all the technologies mentioned. 2. Each lecture has proper titles and pertinent content. The content is complete, there are no gaps in any lecture and never did I have to refer to another site or online resource to understand what was being taught. 3. The code is fully functional and completely accurate, with to the point explanation on what is happening. This is particularly important to learners who do not have enough practice with Android programming. Please be assured the course will not add to your confusion. 4. The sequence of lectures is coherent and each lecture is completely in sync with the previous lecture, this ensures that you do not lose context. 5. Catalin starts from explaining the intent of the course, then proceeds with each technology involved, how to add the libraries, how to use them appropriately and most importantly why are they used and when. I highly recommend this course!
