Course Description

Hi there, my name is Daniel Scott and together we're going to learn how to build professional responsive websites. which look good on mobiles, tablets and desktop screens.
We will build 4 sites together...

We cover everything you need to build your first website. From creating your first page through to uploading your website to the internet. We'll use the world's most popular (and free) web design tool called Visual Studio Code.
There are exercise files you can download and then work along with me. At the end of each video I have a downloadable version of where we are in the process so that you can compare your project with mine. This will enable you to see easily where you might have a problem.
We will delve into all the good stuff such as how to create your very own mobile burger menu from scratch learning some basic JavaScript and jQuery.
You will...
  • Learn how to work with responsive images and icons. and stunning full screen background images and probably one too many gradients.
  • Learn how to create forms and to choose great fonts for your website.

Sharing is who I am, and teaching is where I am at my best, because I've been on both sides of that equation, and getting to deliver useful training is my meaningful way to be a part of the creative community.
I've spent a long time watching others learn, and teach, to refine how I work with you to be efficient, useful and, most importantly, memorable. I want you to carry what I've shown you into a bright future.
I have a wife (a lovely Irish girl) and kids. I have lived and worked in many places (as Kiwis tend to do) but most of my 14+ years of creating and teaching has had one overriding theme: bringing others along for the ride as we all try to change the world with our stories, our labours of love and our art.
I'm a certified Adobe instructor (ACI) in Ireland. I'm also an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) and have completed the Adobe Certified Associate training (ACA). And I don't just do Adobe. Remember, media is a very broad term digital blew out the borders, so we are all constantly learning.
I've been teaching for 14+ years. I come from being a media designer and content creator so I understand exactly where you're at now. I've been there. I love this stuff. Print, digital publishing, web and video. I can see how it all connects. And I can see how we can share those connections.
I built Bring Your Own Laptop in Ireland, New Zealand, Australia & online.

Excellent course from Dan. I've taken and/or currently take many of his courses. Dan thoroughly explains all topics in detail. Great starter course for learning front-end web design.

I came in expecting an intro into web design taught in the same style and pace as Dan's Adobe XD course and found exactly that. I do wish that the course had more assignments, but overall great stuff :)

His way of explaining while going along really makes the content stick. Great sense of humor that makes the courses light and interesting! Highly recommend any of Dan's courses.

Dan provides a fantastic balance in both teaching and project based work. I found his course incredibly helpful as communication was clear and consistent throughout the course.Despite coming from more of a designer background, the course was insightful and engaging making the concepts easy to grasp. I would highly recommend this course for people from all different backgrounds.I could not have asked for more and look forward to learning from the other courses you have to offer.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the occasional touch of humor.

I rated this as 3 1/2 because I was looking for something as a refresher course for html and css fundamentals. The videos for me are going too slow to be honest and was planning to skip a bunch of them but I have learned a few things new in HTML 5 and CSS from this course so far. But I think I might jump into the bootstrap portion to be honest. If I was new to html and css I think this would have been perfect.Thinking it over i found the css-reset.css to be very useful.

Just finished this course and absolutely loved it. I started with very little knowledge on web design and what I did know totally confused me, although I now feel confident in it and ready to delve deeper into the subject. Dan is great at teaching the subject and he makes it really exciting, I will definitely be doing more of his courses in the future. 100% recommend!

I picked up this course after comparing with the other serveral bestseller courses and examing the course outline carefully. The clear outline contributes a lot to make me choose this course. Dan is teaching step by step and all basic layouts are included which is great. Also, I choose this course because it teaches without any framworks at the beginning. Section3-5 are wonderful but Section6 is quite rough (yes I mean it).

I think this is my third time bought some courses from Daniel and I can't give any single opinion cause his method of teaching always success to make me understand... Thank you :D

Dan did a great job in explaining the material. He kept the course interesting and engaging. It was really helpful that we worked on so many projects to get practice. Thanks Dan! I do feel really comfortable with HTML and CSS now.

HTML5 tags are not covered in this tutorial. Apart from that it is quite good.

I really like the flow of this course as segments are broken up nicely and easier to understand. Daniel has a great way of explaining all the content effectively and also provides nice tips and extra points for more flexibility.

Learning so much about developing web sites! Dan makes it easy to understand and follow along. He helps reinforce the learning towards the end of the video which makes learning easier. Cheers Dan!
