It's a good course; it's just that these Dummies series are not really for dummies; that is, they do assume you have some basic knowledge and many peple don't have this. I also came across the same issue with VBA for Dummies; the author jumps around to concepts you don't know where they came from.

It is complicated. I have an issue with java allowing me to build a BreadthFirstSearch. It tells me the vertex can’t be resolved to a Type. Indeed, it should display numbers, but the coursework is unique. It isn’t in the sense of monetary value; but to get the creative juices going, it is an endeavor. That is like the idea of continuity establishing an ambiguous worth that leads to relevant data linking a sort through time periods. If you update a language, it should be affordable.

This was perfect for me. I have taken some other courses on html and JS but have failed to keep in practice. I wanted to get some review while learning some new skills, and I have. Also, the SimpleGame engine is a great library--simple but powerful--and I look forward to using it in all kinds of projects. However, the way that this course is organized and the teaching strategy would have made it extremely challenging had I not learned a lot of this before. While most coding courses I have looked at have the instructor building projects WITH the student, introducing concepts and constructing mini challenges along the way, in this course we are mostly shown completed projects and the important concepts are highlighted. This means that the student has to use a fair amount of creativity in training themselves rather than being able to simply follow along. But having said all that, its amazing what this course and the library makes possible with only a few lines of code. I recommend this course for anyone who already has some grasp of html and JS, wants to learn to create games NOW, and is not going to get frustrated if they have to look through code trying to figure out what they missed.

This is kinda boring but lets see if it gets interesting after a while.

Things are made clear and simple, and in a way that I can understand and apply them without just copying the source code. I feel like I am actually learning the material. Great for beginners as well as people who are farther along in their knowledge, as it helps explain things as to why the code does a certain action.

I really don't like the fact that the instructor already had the code written out. This doesn't help the beginner out at all. I love learning from Andy because he does make understanding WHY something work, but misses the fact that there are people out there like me that need to actually do things to learn it. This is why I gave it only 3 stars . I feel this is a huge thing that needs to be in the videos. Also the fact that he just gives the files of the already done code, what's the point in doing it.

I really enjoyed this course. Andy does a great job of building on simple coding in HTML and CSS, working towards more complicated (and difficult) concepts such as artificial intelligence. The learning pace is excellent, with clear, concise explanations, and it's NEVER dry or boring. I'm really looking forward to anything that Andy might next put up on Udemy.

I have tried to dive into HTML5 game development before but was never able to get past making a ball bounce. With this course and the open source SimpleGame.js library that the author introduces, I feel like I am ready to take on casual games on the web. The course started out a little slow for me but mostly because I am experienced web developer. So I skipped through those sections and jumped right into the meat of developing the game. I can see great games coming my way and all on the web for the world to enjoy.

During each lecture, Andy Harris tries to offer only useful and tested techniques, he starts from absolute scratch and provides all the assets he uses so you can follow along with him, then he moves to more advanced levels where he teaches programming in more depth. I loved the way he explains new terms. The course is well worth buying. I'm enjoying it.
