Course Description
Build a State of the Art Android App with this new course on Android development and Kotlin.
Most tutorials and how to's show you the basics of app building, but they don't show you how to use the latest technologies and libraries.
Most projects and jobs require you to know how to use the latest libraries. This is what this course is all about.
The purpose of this course is to give you a practical example of how to use these technologies, all while building a simple example app.
We will learn about:
MVVM architecture using the Google recommended Android Lifecycle Extensions
Retrofit and JSON for remote server communication
RxJava as a reactive framework
Dagger2 for dependency injection
Jetpack navigation for navigating the user through the app screens
Jetpack Data Binding for building UI screens
Glide for seamless image loading
Jetpack Palette for extracting colors from images
Unit tests to test the application and make it stable and robust
And we will build everything in Kotlin, the shiny new language that Google recommends
If you want to become an expert Android Developer, you need to know how to use these technologies.
If you want to build an app that scales and is robust, these technologies will make your life easy in the long term.
Sign up today, and let's learn how to properly build a State of the Art Android Application.

I was quite disappointed with this course, primarily due to its reliance on outdated libraries that are no longer supported or relevant. Additionally, the course includes an API that simply doesn't work, forcing me to redo my project and spend extra time troubleshooting. I hope the course will be updated soon, so I can reconsider my rating. However, as it stands, I would not recommend purchasing this course.

MVVM, Retrofit, Dependcy Injection using Dagger , Data Binding

Just finished with the lessons. I would say that this is a great material and would compare with having an experienced colleague showing you the tools with quick examples how it all can be used, and then it is really up to you to learn on your own (but now, you know well where you should get with it). I think this is really good course, and it can be recommended to everybody learning Android. Thank you Stefan! Good luck with your future work!

It was great to see some more advanced (and newer) techniques compared to other (older) introductory courses that I recently took. The versions of the dependencies are a bit outdated, but I found that upgrading them to the latest versions wasn't hard to figure out and fix with a little research.

I am an Android Developer and You are really an awesome tutor because of your clear voice, your vast knowledge about the subject I do not normally give a rating on every course but for this course, after some chapters, I decided to rate 5 points with feedback Please keep it up I will search more courses from you. As I am an Indian student. In "Thank you" stock image Please add "धन्यवाद्" means thank you in Indian language (Hindi)

Took this course as a beginner to get a better understanding of Kotlin and how to develop Android applications. Catalin is a great teacher, he goes from explaining what he will do and why to showing you how to write a clean code. At the end of each lecture, you understand what you wrote and what that code does. I recommend taking this course and others too since Catalin is a great teacher. Trust me, i've searched quite a bit for a teacher like him on Android.

Nice course for those who want an overview of some of the main components introduced with Jetpack and other tools frequently used in the industry. However from the section 8 onwards the level of complexity of the code increases a lot and you must keep in mind that if you do not have previous experience in these topics you will just have an overview of what the components do, follow the coding process and later you will need to search other materials and simpler examples to fully understand them.

This course opened a whole new world in the Android programming to me, this is the first time I learned about Navigation, Retrofit, Dagger 2 Dependency Injection, Data Binding, Mockito Unit Testing etc. Catalin is a very good teacher, he explained every concepts and the rationale of each line of codes as he type out, though I've not fully understood the concept of each (I'm a slow learner), I believe I will one day :)

Catalin knows his stuff, the course is well thought out. The topics are in demand and I will be implementing my new found knowledge in my future portfolio apps. I will add Catalin to my favourite list of instructors. I just have to mention that these topics are advanced and this course is not a beginners starting point.

I think the instructor is good, and very skilled at both coding and explaining concepts. Although when he began using a ton of third party libraries it simply got too much for me as a novice Android developer coming from iOS. I would have appreciated if he would have shown best practices in Android development using native libraries and the 'Google-way' instead. The parts showcasing and explaining MVVM, ViewModel and Navigation is really good and helped me a ton.
