In this course you’ll learn how to draw using dramatic light and shadow.  All form, no matter how complex, follows a basic set of shading principles.  By understanding how light operates on the fundamental volumes of the sphere, cylinder and cube, you’ll be able to realistically shade and render basic forms and be prepared to draw and shade more complex subjects.  It’s essential that every artist and creative professional know and be able to use these powerful shading techniques.

This course is a perfect prerequisite to painting and figure drawing.

After a couple of years trying to render shadows unsuccessfully, finally I have found a course that offers the core knowledge and concepts I lacked to move forward. Kudos for Brent. I just wish he would had merged his shading fundamentals and the next course in the series in one as 1,5 hours feels too short to deserve a complete course on its own.

Basic concepts of shading was explained in simplistic form with excellent demos that could be followed by even a beginner. These lessons have helped me to understand various aspects of shades and light that are essential to bring out true volume of an object in a drawings.
