Techniques were good to share, and teaching method was understandable, but the dead air and long pauses as we watched him paint or draw a creature left me disconnected. There were moments I had to check my audio because I thought it was out, only to realize Austin was just trying to find a color.

I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in getting started in creature design. The instructor clearly has expertise on the subject and the best of the course are the assignments that really helps you to slowly improve your understanding of the process of designing a creature. Though there are somepoint that I want to point out. First of all, I highly recommend starting this course with a solid foundation of art basics. The instructor takes for granted that you already know them and that you are capable enough to follow the instructions of the assignments without much struggle. That being said, I would say this course is more for people with an intermediate level in art and above. Secondly, the instructor sometimes has some issues explaining some points. If you already have a good experience in art you can easily fill the gaps the instructor left. But if you are new to drawing or your knowledge of art and fundamentals are lacking, is probable that might not understand some concepts or that you get stuck on most assignments because they may seem so difficult at first glance. And finally, the course has some editing errors. Nothing that ruins your experience at all, but in 2 or 3 videos there are some black screens at the end of some videos or there are things that were clearly intended to be removed in the editing and were not. Is not a big of a deal because, at the end, the information and assigments that the course provide are really really good. From my personal experience I can say that before this course I had never drawn animals or creatures, much less designed my own. I am halfway through the course and I am already amazed by the progress I have made by following the course. I really recommend it.

Austin's teaching on Creature Design is understandable and easy to learn. He shows great knowledge of designing creatures through his drawings of animals, and creatures. Austin's understanding of animal and creature anatomy is amazing too! My criticism is the timing of the videos for the two lectures. Colors and Patterns Demo Part 3 need to be a bit longer for the lesson to finish, and Sentient VS Non-Sentient should stop at seven minutes and twenty-three seconds instead of twenty minutes and thirty-seven seconds.

So far, this course has been really amazing. I'm learning good solid basics for creature design that will definitely help me strengthen my art in the future. The homework is something I absolutely LOVE to do and look forward to doing. It helps me get motivated to try new things and keep up with my practice every day!

This course was a lot of fun and very easy to follow. Each step is clearly explained and accompanied by numerous resources to help achieve great results. I've completed the course with several new art pieces that I'm proud of and I plan on returning regularly when I need a refresher.

The course is good but has some flaws. The Instructor is very knowledgeable on the subject and i think the course is paced well in it's instrutctions going from animal studies to using a briefing to make a new creature from beginning to end. That said there are some lack of cares in a small portion of these lectures, some of them end way earlier than the video length making it so that the 20 minute lecture actually has 7 minutes of content and the other 13 is just a black screen (this only happened to 3 lectures if i recall correctly so it's not that of a big deal). Another small thing is a interruption that the instructor had on one of his lectures by someone entering his room and he said "oh don't worry, i can edit this part out later" and then he didn't XD. These are very minor stuff though, the course is good and i can see myself going back to it to refresh on how to go about training to draw different creatures.

I like the assignments- I think they get a good gist of anatomy without going too in depth, just enough to improve your understanding of creature design. I do however wish maybe a broad overview of how skeletal structure can vary in quadrupeds (like how long and short different bones can get, why it might be unrealistic to do xyz...) was included but it is possible to just figure that out via research. I appreciate this course a lot so far

I find that this course has benefited me quite a bit. I expected to learn about the technicality of art, but I learned a lot more about animal anatomy and I think it's beneficial for this field of work especially. Something of issue I noticed is that some videos will say and play a length of 20 minutes, but the lesson ends at 7 or 10 minutes and it's just a black screen for 2/3 of the video which is kind of annoying.

Fantastic course! It really helped me get a better understanding of creature design. Austin touched on so many different concepts and ideas that are relevant when designing creatures, and I really appreciate how he did full demos and went through the entire design process with the Dralio. This was so helpful, and I learned so much from it!

I have a much better understanding of creature design. When I started I could never come up with a creature of my own design. Austin shows you step by step his thought process in making them. And now I can think of so many cool and amazing creatures. This is a course that will be helpful for sure and totally worth every penny!
