Yoga can support individuals on a holistic level, this course will teach you how to use yoga, breathwork and meditation to create a felt sense of safety in the body and the mind.

When people are experiencing mental health conditions, their nervous system is often dysregulated and their brain is not able to function optimally, when yoga is done in a slow, mindful and rhythmic way, it can calm and settle the nervous system and allow the brain to operate well.

This course will give you an overview of the nervous system, the brain and brainwaves and the effect that mental health conditions can have on the systems of the body and mind.

You will gain an understanding of mental health from both and Eastern and a Western perspective, we will discuss the ancient yogic view of mental health, known as the Gunas.

You will learn about what your students may be feeling during your yoga classes if they are experiencing depression or anxiety and how you as a yoga teacher can best support them.

You will learn how to run a trauma sensitive or trauma informed yoga class, you will learn how to avoid common trauma triggers when teaching yoga classes.

You are supplied with guided, sample yoga classes that have been specifically designed for people experiencing mental health conditions.

We will go over which breathwork practices are best for people who are experiencing mental health conditions, you are supplied with guided breathwork practices and printable PDF scripts for each practice so that you can guide your students through the practices easily.

When teaching meditation to students who are experiencing mental health conditions, this needs to be approached with some caution, you will learn why, we as teachers, need to approach meditation for people who are experiencing mental health conditions with some caution and what meditations are best to do when experiencing depression, anxiety and when healing from past traumas.

You will also receive a sample class plan and class tips.

This course comes with a 43 page printable workbook with all of the information from the course including print outs to use in your yoga classes.

I found this course to be digestible, not over whelming. I felt that Jess delivered this course in a sensitive, clear and caring manner. The one thing I feel to mention is that the subtitles didn’t always match what Jess was saying. Over all the course is informative & memorable. Thank you Jess.

I’m incredibly grateful to have taken this course. Jessica’s approach goes far beyond physical postures — each session feels like a safe, supportive space for healing and self-discovery. She has a deep understanding of how trauma and mental health challenges live in the body, and she guides every practice with compassion, patience, and sensitivity. Her work truly helps people heal.

Jessica Fleming’s course offers practical, trauma-informed teaching tools with excellent student feedback, grounded in yoga philosophy and mindful practice. It empowers teachers to create classes that are more accessible, compassionate and sensitive to mental health needs. As always Jessica led the student through theory and practice with her wise sense of teaching. I highly recommend that course.

This course was a great match for me. I have been teaching Yoga since 2017, Through my day job i have also been evolving towards Mental Health and Wellbeing and this year i became a Wellbeing Ambassador, after being a Wellbeing Advocate for 4 years. I have just recently become a Mental Health First Aider and will be doing the ASIST Training in December. This course interested me to further support my Yoga Students and colleagues from a holistic perspective.

It was good introductory course and I liked how the lessons were presented and made the connection between the Yoga, mindfulness and meditation and how these practices can help trauma, anxiety and depression. The content of the lessons were explained well and they gave me a good understanding and encouraged me to do more research. The presenter has a very nice tone of voice when explaining the content, however the pace of speech was a slow for me (kind of meditative) in some lessons other than breathwork or guided meditation. This maybe just her style of presenting. I appreciate her tips on how to conduct a Yoga class for anxiety, depression and trauma and that these topics were presented individually. And I liked that she included a self-compassion exercise at the beginning of her Yoga class which is a good reminder to practice self-care for ourselves because classes may be emotionally heavy for the Yoga teacher with people experiencing issues like trauma and anxiety. I feel that I have the information I need to do a Yoga class for more balanced mental health and to take the information and explain it in my own words to participants in my own classes.

Namaste. I have practiced Yoga for many years, but also I have experienced pain, disease, and loss along the way. As my body grows older and I long for wisdom, I have to accept that there is trauma, and anxiety in my life, motivation enough to follow this course, a practice that opens the doors of wellness and balance, not just on the mat, but all around me. This course is bringing me clarity, and understanding, it is giving me knowledge, and the necessary support emotionally and physically, so I can enjoy life breath by breath and move by move, it is bringing me joy and calm moments to share with those I love as well. Thank you from the heart!

This course was excellent! I feel completely prepared to teach yoga classes that are trauma informed for people who have experienced trauma, depression, and/or anxiety. It was jam packed with information that was presented in a way that was easy to follow. The length of the course was perfect too - long enough to have all pertinent info included and short enough to feel empowered to complete and begin to incorporate into my teaching. Can't recommend the course more!
