Course Description
Welcome to Blender 2.8 Game Vehicle Creation! In this course you will learn how to create a game vehicle, from the first polygon to the final configuration of the user controls in the game engine. You will learn:
Blender 2.8 Modeling Tools and Modifiers
UV Mapping a Complex 3D Model in Blender 2.8
Creating a Color ID Map
Exporting FBX files from Blender
Texturing in Substance Painter
Baking a Normal Map in Substance Painter
Configuring a Vehicle in Unity
We will begin by modeling an Oshkosh-M All-Terrain Vehicle. We’ll go over the modeling tools and techniques that you’ll need to create a low-poly vehicle in Blender 2.8. We will UV map all the parts of the vehicle, and you’ll learn how to combine all the pieces into an efficient, unified UV map.
From here we will export the model out of Blender and into Substance Painter. We will build the textures for each part of the vehicle, and then export the texture maps out, ready to take into Unity. Finally, we will bring in the models and textures into Unity, set-up the materials, and configure the vehicle controls.
If you’re interested in creating and setting up game vehicles, and are looking for a comprehensive course to take you through every step of the process, then join me for Blender 2.8 Game Vehicle Creation.

No one is a better Teacher then Darren...you can spend hours on YouTube learning a whole bunch of Methods and Opinions that contradict each other...or you can learn from Darren. I have purchased many of his courses...and each time I learn something new Buying a course from Darren Lile is a step towards learning the methods and techniques of Industry professional

What a great course! I was looking something to create game assets and this course didn't disappoint. The tutor is knowledgeable and has a crisp, book narrator's voice. It is my belief that good teachers must have some grey hairs on them :) Anyway : -Blender part: I've done this course with blender 3.4 with no problems, there are only 2 things Blender changed but it is solved in answers and its really a minimal thing. The lectures have a nice pace and just the right amount of knowledge you need. Also you get plenty of practice. -Substance Painter part: I have Substance Painter 2022 and I see that not much have changed as far as UI goes. I felt that this part is a bit lacking of explanation but had no problem following the tutor. And you don't really need materials from Substance Source, the smart materials are enough to texture things. - Unity part: If you are a veteran Unity user you know that Unity likes to deprecate things faster than they develop them. So in order to follow you need to download Unity 2019. The tutor provides the tools and the project just in case you break your project which I did trying to make it in URP. Bad idea :) Thank you Mr Lile for this course!

This is my favourite course so far! I have been learning Blender since January 2021, I have bought and followed so many courses on Blender this is my favourite. The whole process from modelling to texturing is extremely informative and didn't miss any steps. Also the extra step of adding the model in to unity and getting it to move felt really satisfying to see my model driving around, I highly recommend this course to anyone including beginners! I am really happy how my render turned out and looks great on my portfolio. https://ellisfossett.artstation.com/. If you are looking for suggestions I would love another weapon modelling course as your previous one is a tad outdated, or to make another vehicle more like a generic car. You are the best teacher I have found on this site and hope to see more courses around game ready assetts!

Just an awesome course. From your first vertex in Blender, through Substance Painter, to Unity and a fully functional game scene. Driving around your MRAP that you have spent so much time on and seeing it in a game setting is very rewarding. I love Darrin's teaching style, and not only does he show you how to create a quality looking game asset, he always just takes it to the next level by expanding the learning experience in other software. Most instructors would simply quit the tutorial when the game asset is done. But not Darrin, he expands on it and shows you how to drive the damn thing. Amazing.

Very enjoyable experience. It's a long journey, but Darrin covers everything from A-Z. So if you're intermediate, this course will raise your game and you will most likely find yourself referencing back in the future. I got stuck twice as Substance Painter and Unity software moves on with time, but I quickly found solutions in the Q&A section. So be sure to check out the Q&A if you get stuck. Thank you Darrin. I can see you put a lot of time and effort into this. I won't forget this one.

This was my third Blender course with Darrin Lile. Like the others, it was stellar. There's a lot—I mean a lot—of modeling in this class. Is there too much? I don't know, but now I'm more comfortable with Blender 2.8 than I was with previous versions of the software. Prior to the class, I was overwhelmed by the UI changes in 2.8 and felt like I had to learn the software all over again. This was the course I needed. The Substance Painter and Unity tutorials were also helpful. I highly recommend this course!

Exactly what I was looking for. Very good. Excellent tuition. Darrin works at just the right pace and explains what he is doing/going to do and why and very clearly. I had problems with Unity and couldn't get the animation to work but that is probably down to me never having used that program before and that wasn't my reason for taking this course anyway. I wanted to learn to learn how to create the vehicle in Blender and use Substance Painter which I did and now have a fab Oshkosh vehicle. Would definately do another course from Darrin in the future (a Challenger 2 tank would be great - Please).

Ive done several of his courses, these tutorials are the only ones ive finished and have gone back to reference for other projects. This course in particular..WOW..challenge from the get go, literally covered everything from A-Z, took me about a month to do it from all the redo`s i had to do, but worth every minute. May do it again the fix minor stuff that could have been done better. Cant wait till you come out with a tank tutorial (hint HINT :)

Was it a good match? Mostly! Except where Substance Painter is concerned. I had to deviate from the course material using the Blender texturing features and used Mask Tools (Wayward Art Company - see Blender Market) for weathering. I have a number of Darrin's Udemy tutorials and would like to see him do an instruction set on Unity. Regarding this course Darrin is awesome in providing insight into building a model from scratch and I would consider myself in the intermediate range of expertise in building in Blender 2.8. Darrin makes learning Blender a joy.

The course has been interesting, enjoyable and I have progressed without much trouble. A video game production course would be nice to complete the training. The questions and answers section is not very fast and I still have some pending questions to answer. Another aspect to review is the quality of the videos. In this resolution it is difficult to see some steps correctly, especially in Unity. I think better visualization is necessary and I could better value the course.
