Course Description
Overview
In this course, Entity Framework Core - A Full Tour, you will learn to work with data in your .NET applications.
When courses are created for .NET technologies, the details of Entity Framework and its sheer power are often neglected. We get distracted by abstractions and layers and need to focus on what Entity Framework is doing and can do.
In this course, we will review the general benefits of using Entity Framework Core, which is Microsoft’s flagship Object-Relational Mapper (ORM), to relieve you of many concerns and challenges that come with this component of software development. We will also discover how EF Core translates classes and references into database models and Relationships.
We will learn how to write queries, update databases incrementally, roll back changes, and explore the myriad capabilities that Entity Framework Core affords us. This course is compatible with .NET 6 / .NET 7 / .NET 8.
When you finish this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of Entity Framework Core needed to easily interact with data and write queries for .NET Core applications.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
Construct a data model using code-first and database-first workflows.
Understand Entity Framework Commands for all operating systems.
Use migrations to manage database changes.
Apply Database validations and constraints.
Perform CRUD operations using LINQ.
Apply best practices with Entity Framework.
Extending Data Contexts
Understand how Change Tracking works.
Manage Database Structure using Fluent API
Handle One-To-One, One-To-Many and Many-To-Many Relationships
PREREQUISITES
To take this course, you should have at least three months of experience programming in C#. If you need to strengthen your C# fundamentals, you can take my C# beginner course C# Console and Windows Forms Development with LINQ & ADO .NET.
You can also explore Database Development, which you can look at in the Complete Microsoft SQL Server Database Design Masterclass course.
Content and Overview
To take this course, you will need to know C#. Even if you have little exposure to the .NET development stack, this course is beginner-friendly and has development tips.
This premium course is smartly broken up to highlight related activities based on each module in the application being built. We will also look at troubleshooting and debugging errors as we go along, implementing best practices, writing efficient logic, and understanding why developers do things the way they do. Your knowledge will grow, step by step, throughout the course, and you will be challenged to be the best you can be.
The course includes working files hosted on GitHub to make it easier for you to replicate the demonstrated code. You will be able to work alongside the author as you work through each lecture and will receive a verifiable certificate of completion upon finishing the course.

I am not satisfied with the course, it seems not for the begineer friendly, inn frist ffeww moudles he uses VB Code, and later, there is no use. Then, why unnecessarily make use of that, for most of the module font size is very small, difficult to understand, no clean code, so many comments, and involves copy-paste. Each Module s tattly couple with each other if you want to understand the 2nd module, you have to first learn the 1st one. So many files are open in VS seems confusing, and there iis onn real time example related to any of the modules, and the examples are just kind of definitions. It has to be linked with a real-time web application with proper UI, but I know here another will say it is not a UI course. Overall, I have to spend on another author for the same course

Really a great course. All essentials features are shown in a pleasantly quick tour. I liked that the features are demonstrated on a non-trivial solution structure, where entities, DbContext, and configuration are split in multiple projcets. The course shows how to tackle the migrations and database updates also for these cases, which are more close to the real world that overly simplified examples on other websites where everything is in the same project. The solution structure is non-trivial but, at the same time, it's not unnecessarily complicated. I'd recommend this course to anyone.

I wish that at the beginning of each section there is a list of files to download or that video shows code from previous sections that will be used in the current section. In my case, I want to learn Section 7: "Interacting With Related Records", but I have to go to previous sections in an attempt to reconstruct files that are assumed to be present for section 7. (I have learned earlier sections elsewhere, that is why I specifically wanted to learn Section 7.)

I already had an idea of what EF Core was but this course helped solidify my knowledge on this topic. My only complaint, a very minor at that, is that the many-to-many relationships were not taught in a proper way. Of course SQL is a prerequisite so this shouldn't be a problem but, teaching m-m relationships with only 2 tables can make it hard for people new to EF Core to understand what is happening. Other than that the course is great and very detailed without becoming tiresome.

Trevoir is a great lecturer. It's obvious that he knows the subject material very well, but he is equally skilled in breaking down and getting ideas across to the listener/student in a way which makes everything interesting and accessible to anyone taking the course. Alhough there have ben a few areas in which I lost track due to some discontinuities within the course material, those instances are proving to be opportunities in which I actually learned more from the course because I had to "find my own back". So far, great course!

The material is thorough, thought out, and uses a code-along strategy to keep you in the game. I appreciate - foremost - however, the inclusion of VS Code instructions in various places throughout. Most .NET training materials elsewhere focus on Visual Studio - but this course will show you each task in both approaches: one, from Visual Studio; and two, from the command line or VS Code. This is very very useful for someone like me - a VS Code exclusive user. Later in the lectures, I ran into some problems locally. I don't know if that's because I was doing it wrong with VS Code or if there were minor differences between the material and the version of .NET I was using - but it did mean I spent much more time on the course than I thought I would, in terms of hours invested. That's not a complaint: the troubleshooting meant I learned more than I expected also - I include it as an observation for reference for others taking the course. All in all, I would buy from this instructor again and I would likely recommend his courses to colleagues looking to learn what he is teaching.

This course is really good and fully professional. I wanted to have strong knowledge about Entity Framework Core and now I am able to make my C# applications to connect to database and even more. I didn't know that EF Core has got that kind of features and most of all, I am now able to use them in my applications. This course is really comprehensive and it fully meets my expectations. The instructor also has a big knowledge about the topic and He can professionally pass it to the students. Thanks Trevoir, awesome course!

The course is great. EntityFrameWork (EF) is covered enough for me to start using it after the course. The topic is explained clearly and concisely enough for me to understand how EF works and how to use it properly. The course is suitable enough as an introduction to EF and after completing the course the user should understand the concept of EF and be familiar with its documentation. I would recommend everyone to go through the basics of relational databases, SQL language and also to have knowledge of at least one database server before taking this course. The course can be taken without knowledge of SQL, but I would not recommend this as it may then be difficult for the user to use EF if there is a situation where EF does not help and you need to write a piece of code using an SQL query.

Best course. I have bought 2 .Net course from someone else before buying this course and both didn't explain about EntityFramework they give student a SQL script and run it to create a database after that they query and do action with EntityFramework . that make stun what happened behind the scene. And they show student to use simply EntityFramework (without Relationship). That makes me curious "How can we develop a real-world app without that?" This course will tour all about EntityFramework. I highly recommend. this course did not disappoint me.
