Great Experience, Really was able to make the games on Construct 2 which I had never used before. One good thing about the instructor is that in different games, he uses different logic/option to achieve the same thing/effect. This helps understand more options available in the interface and pushes us to think on what could the possible different scenario where only one of the two logic/option can be used. One suggestion would be to incorporate the introduction to the interface in the beginning and Export methods as I am really having a hard time export my games to apk.

Somewhat disappointing. The coding is often inefficient and the logic not well thought out. For example in the addition drill, there are 2 choices for the answer. The 2nd choice is derived by subtracting a random number from the correct answer. Therefore the correct answer is always the higher of the two choices. In one game so far, if statements were copied and pasted for several variable assignments, when an array would have been more efficient. The 60 games aren't really 60 different games. Some are variations on the same thing. For example the arithmetic games: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing are basically the same code with only minor changes for the different mathematical operations. The instructor so far spends a lot of time in photoshop creating images and talking about colors. I am new to Construct, but have a programming background. I'm picking up some techniques from the course, but had hoped for more.

I guess I have to leave 3 stars review for now, as the title implies the "complete game developer course" but in fact its missing one crucial aspect of the game development: deployment/publishing. As this is focused on C2 engine, this should be called a course on c2 development: design 60 games. Not a catchy title that teaches complete game development. The course was packed with tutorials no doubt and explanations. but the major down point for me is the deployment and I felt it's not making me happy. I haven't finished all of the course, I started offline so my progress don't show up here. But it seems I can see no discussion on publishing it on any of the course overview. What udemy lacks about c2 is the publishing part. As long as mentors here don't share that topic, I consider the tutorials here as a support for easily acquired templates from scirra stores (and tutorials are already there, free.) . I hope something or someone comes up with a better step by step game case study from scratch to publishing with ads, etc.

I Plan to Re-Rate this Course when finished but just starting it I am getting annoyed. I signed up for this course as a beginner looking to LEARN about game development, and from the start everything is rushed though. The instructor has shown the deletion of actions in previous clips and in latter clips the actions have been un-deleted. so if i followed his directions i made a mistake and have to re-remember what I did to create this action. I plan on finishing this tutorial program and re-rating it when im done, but considering YouTube has better develop Tutorials you dont have to pay for that i have finished and have learned more from I am getting irritated with this rushed pase.

Really informative so far. At first I felt like he repeated a lot of stuff over and over, but now the tutor is really getting into some awesome stuff which I would not have learned else where. I am currently using the free version of Construct 2 but will definitely be purchasing it soon.

Terrific course. I started as a complete beginner and ended feeling confident that I can try out my own ideas without becoming bogged down in problems that I can't solve. John makes the student repeat game logic frequently so that many events and actions become second nature. Practice and more practice makes tackling new problems great fun. Students looking for a gentle introduction which gathers pace as the course progresses won't do better than this. John regularly ends lectures with challenges and suggestions about how to improve and build more complexity into games. Sometimes, you are left knowing that something is missing or wrong - don't worry, by then you will realise that John has left you to figure it out - great learning technique!! I am really pleased I took this course and would thoroughly recommend it. Thanks John.

I've learned so much watching your videos. I've finish the entire course and I enjoyed all the subjects. Because it was 60 games it helped on repetition, which is the best way to know how to use a software. These are also 60 games that is considered popular in the app world so you'll gain an understanding and create an approach to create one on your own. I've gain confidence to create my own video games going through these courses. This is a course I recommend for anyone who hasn't touched construct 2 and wants to develop an understanding to use it in a professional manner.

The Instructor is very clear and engaging! It is very obvious he is very knowledgeable about Construct 2;for he gives very helpful tips and advice to expand the games after you finish them.I love how he adds a challenge at end of all of the first 20 games. It really encourages you to step away from his teaching hand and explore the amazing world of Construct 2.(I find them very fun!).Plus, once your done with it, it gives you a great feeling of accomplishment knowing you are step closer to mastery! I used to just stick to what the challenge ask of me.However, now I'm over half way done with the course. In addition,I often go over board with creating my own challenges for my games and make them as big and complex as I can! I look at my projects in amazement of how much I've learned from this course. 5 Star Excellent Course!

I am liking this course very much. I like courses that explain things, but John's course is easy enough to follow, I don't know if it's that I already have some programming experience or that he explains it well enough, but it's good. It has 60 quick to program games which invoke many game mechanics and gaming design techniques. Thank you for the course John.
