Ed Foychuk

Hi guys! I'm Ed Foychuk, and I've been a professional illustrator for decades now. Most of my adult life I was based in Asia, so a lot of the work I have from that period is of an animation style. I did however grow up on Canada, so western comic books are definitely my foundation.

I've got a background in Education and Strength Training, and always wondered how I'd combine all of my passions and worlds... and then Udemy came on the scene! I love creating courses for you, my students. I've got 20 so far, and dad jokes aside, I think my passion shines through. My specialties are in breaking down subjects, understanding structures, Anatomy, and story telling.

At 20+ courses published on this site, I've gained a lot of experience. I've learned so much from my students, and really appreciate all of the feedback and support given.

I love working as a freelance illustrator and instructor. It's opened up so many possibilities in my life, and I want to share that all with you.

After months of trying to understand anything beyond 1 point perspective from different sources and such art books and YouTube tutorials, Ed's course got me to understand everything from 1 point to 5 point in a short amount of time. I cannot believe that 2 weeks in (after consistent daily practice), I am able to draw shapes in 5 point perspective with confidence! Ed's method of teaching is that of a world class teacher. The amount of real life examples he uses throughout the course are so relatable and effective. Extra point: Ed goes the extra mile with his explanations in his bonus videos. I look forward to more courses by him and I hope anyone else who purchases this course gets the same experience as I did. 10 out of 5 Stars!

A perfect course for beginners! Mr. Ed's teaching style is super compatible with me, so I purchased his other courses as well(Those courses are also amazing, I'm half way through that). I truly feel that his teaching has helped me improve. I also try to practice for at least an hour on alternate days of the week using his practice sheets and some references from Google.I hope in some of his video are well audio tuned, I can barely hear in some of his videos even if I blast it in blue-tooth speakers.

It's a good practical course. You could read a book and not exactly get what they're trying to say, and then watch Ed's course and go, "Oh!" You could then go back to the book and get a more deeper understanding. He gave some good examples and he walked you through it. I like the fact that he went into the other perspectives like 4 and 5, most stop at 3. I thought he could have been a little more precise with his speech, a lot of it struck me as being very much off the top of his head, which gives you the impression that not a lot of fore thought went into the presentation.

Felt good to finally tackle a weak point for me, as I have always preferred drawing nature, and people, and characters and such, and have shied from structural drawing. Come to find out perspective was more straight forward than anticipated, and I can use learned techniques to not only enhance my character drawing, but put them in better backgrounds. All while saving time, as I used to used a ruler to measure and divide and such. Turns out there are so many easy perspective rules and cheats that could have made my life far easier with previous drawings. Oh well. Better later than never. This was a great course, and will serve as a great resource for future reference.

The way Ed Foychuk breaks things down in his courses makes it easy to not only follow along but to retain the knowledge. I have a few of his courses and they all exceed my expectations. If you struggle with backgrounds and understanding perspective then this course will definitely put you on track to understanding it. The exercises are practical and fun. Thank you Ed for sharing your knowledge!

First lesson was absolutely easy to grasp even for learning-challenged me, interesting and with a thorough explanation of how to get started on 1 point perspective. Sounds great so far! UPDATE - Just wrapped up Lesson 12 thus far and 100% confirm that this course is a godsend! It explains concepts that I used to REALLY struggle with in a simple and efficient way, the examples are clear and engaging. I can't wait to continue!

As a thriving artist, I did a massive search on the web and watched many (I mean "many") videos on perspective before watching this course. Ed's course encompasses simply everything you'll need to know about perspective and even more (the special circumstances where a single-minded approach to perspective may fail, practial workarounds and more). If only I could watch this course before spending tens of hours trying to learn about perspective. This course is a must for all art students, not only for those aiming at drawing comics.

Amazing course!! All lessons were really easy to understand, with an amazing pace (slower in the beginning to get the basics, and faster as classes move forward). All the content was really well explained, and the examples given really helped interiorize everything (i thought it was a really good method to get the perspective from pictures). Thanks you so much for this amazing course, and I'll see you in the next two that I just bought :)

I really enjoyed the course. It has just the right amount of information: enough to help you make rapid progress and not too much so you're not getting lost and confused with additional theory or irrelevant details. I started the course with a vague idea what perspective was and that objects closer to the camera look bigger. Now I can draw in 5-point perspective thanks to this course. I'm pretty amazed at that. This is the third course from Ed I did and my progress within just around two months has been phenomenal.

I really love everything so far in terms of content and presentation. The only reason not a 5 star rating is the fact that pretty much after every sentence he says the word "right?" and it got to be so distracting and irritating that I really started to have to focus to try and block it out and so maybe didn't enjoy the lessons there at the end as much as I could have. But other than that small thing, it was really a great course.
