Course Description
As a leader you are responsible for generating trust, building authentic relationships and effective teams. It is vital that you lead by example and inspire excellence in others.
This course will help you to develop and apply your skills as an inclusive leader. You will learn more about working with equality and diversity to include all types of people to confidently engage with you as a leader.
Leadership is about influencing others through personal attributes and behaviours, underpinned by emotional intelligence, to achieve prescribed outcomes.
Inclusive Leadership is about treating people and groups fairly based on their unique characteristics, rather than acting on biases derived from stereotypes.
It is also about personalising individuals, understanding and valuing the uniqueness and differences of others while at the same time including them as members of the organisation, networks and work groups.
Inclusive Leadership is about utilising the thinking of diverse groups for smarter ideas, solutions and decision making. Inclusive leadership has the potential to provide different approaches and ways of working that move the organisation forward.
Equality and Diversity refers to the fair treatment and respect of all individuals, no matter their personal circumstances. Knowledge of equality and diversity helps you and your team to operate appropriately within an equal and diverse workforce. The course analyses how you behave at work, and how it may affect those around you. It addresses unacceptable behaviour, such as stereotyping and discrimination as well as how to deal with inappropriate or offensive behaviour.
This course will help you to develop and apply your skills as an inclusive leader. You will learn about the psychology of equality and diversity to grow your team and your organisation, enhance their performance and improve your personal satisfaction. Critical thinking to work in an emotionally intelligent manner forms a major component of the skills of an Inclusive Leader to overcome unconscious bias. This is covered in detail within the course.
As an Inclusive Leader it is important to consider the communication between people who have differences. These include age, nationality, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
Cross cultural communication is an important leadership topic as we develop teams and build relationships with people across the world. Many of these people are from different cultures and backgrounds from our own.
Cross cultural communication refers to your efforts as a leader to exchange information, negotiate and mediate differences based on national culture through communication. It is understanding how people belonging to different cultures engage with each other and respectfully modifying your communication style to make allowances for this.
The course covers how different types of cultures impact upon individuals' needs. It also covers how you can use cross-cultural communication as an inclusive leader with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures.
By taking this course, you will be able to
Determine what equality, diversity and inclusion means for inclusive leadership
Discover the impact of bias and unconscious bias in equality and diversity
Demonstrate the attributes of an emotionally intelligent, inclusive leader through critical thinking
Describe how to inspire and foster respect through your work with equality and diversity
Recognise ways to effectively communicate across various cultures

You will strengthen your relationships with others, build your awareness of unconscious bias, develop your critical thinking skills, and become a senior advocate for inclusive workplace cultures. You can expect to see the results of a more inclusive culture, both internally and externally, very quickly.

Robin Hills
Hi. I'm Robin Hills. I am an emotional intelligence coach, trainer and facilitator with over 40 years' business and commercial experience. I provide knowledge and skills that help people understand themselves and others better.
I have the most comprehensive range of on-line courses based on emotional intelligence in business - not only on Udemy but anywhere on the internet. I am not teaching any other types of course as I am a specialist in emotional intelligence and it is the focus of my business.
In early 2024, I was presented an Honorary Doctorate in Advanced Studies in Psychology in recognition of my contribution to online Emotional Intelligence training, which started with Udemy back in 2014.
My courses go beyond the fundamental basics of emotional intelligence covering many aspects of how it can be applied in day to day work to lead, grow and develop people in ways that build authentic relationships.
My work takes me into small start-ups through to large corporate multi-nationals and into the Public Sector with financial institutions, government departments and health departments, as well as charities. This provides me a practical understanding of how emotional intelligence works and applied in the real world, enabling me to keep up to date with relevant issues.

great information that is critical to how I collaborate with my peers in a more effective and considerate way. This knowledge is unlocking so many things in identifying these differences and how we can grow stronger with them.

I was skeptical at first, believing that I made emotionally sound decisions. Expecting the course to be repeat of information I have already heard. However, so far, the course has given me a fresh perspective on this topic. I am looking forward for what I will learn as I continue.

I found Inclusive Leadership: Working with Equality and Diversity to be an insightful and well-structured course. The content effectively covers key aspects such as Inclusive Leadership, Cross-Cultural Communication, Critical Thinking, and Emotional Intelligence. Each section provides valuable perspectives, making it a great learning experience for professionals looking to enhance their leadership skills in diverse environments. While I felt the first two sections were a bit slow-paced perhaps due to my unconscious bias as my mind juggles between AI and EI courses the course builds up well and delivers strong takeaways, especially in later modules. The quizzes and practical activities were particularly useful, providing an opportunity to reflect and process the content in a meaningful way. Overall, a great course for anyone looking to develop an inclusive leadership mindset!

Very comprehensive and useful course. The concepts and topics were discussed clearly and straightforward. The entire course was divided in sub-sections that build on and reinforce one's learning as you move on to the next sections.

The course is very informative and the speaker was knowledgeable and direct in speaking about the content of the course. My only gripe is that the lectures are very monotoned and lack of energy is felt throughout from start to finish. Either way, I find this course refreshing and impactful

I really enjoyed the course overall - there's section I hadn't heard of before like the 7 dimensions of culture which i found interesting. I knocked start off because I felt like the section critical thinking wasn't value add in terms of how we think about inclusivity. That feels like a separate course which would be able to go more in depth. I found the summary (course 56 funny) when he called out my bias that I was a bit weary of a British white man teaching me about DEI but it was good overall.

Gracias

I really loved the content of this short course. It strengthened my desire to learn more about the different topics covered, particularly as they relate to the different kinds of biases we are often unaware of. I love that Robin uses examples to teach because it helps us self-reflect and evaluate ourselves much better as we think through our experiences.

Great explanation of inclusive leadership with a good balance of theory and practice. I like the way Robin covers diversity in a way that is not boring like most courses on this subject. This course is a great resource for anyone new to leadership or anyone with a lot of experience as a leader.
