the voice could be clearer or add a caption of important details like box out or bullet or checklist along with the narration

It was a great experience. I have already taken few Android courses but this course gives me some nice details about few topics , and also a new way of think about app development. The down side is this that course is bit out dated, the Android OS has move a lot forward, should also upgrade this course. Overall it was a satisfying experience. :)

I like the course very much but was not comfortable with the instructor speaking accent

I like this course, so far. Lecture 43 ImageActivity.java, I couldn't get all the code for it from start to finish shown. Lecture 44 MainActivity.java doesn't have all the code from start to finish shown. That way I can test out the code and be able to run it and see that I am doing it correctly.

"Games & Animation" section a bit messy. found it a bit tricky to follow. but otherwise the whole course is top notch. he's the best instructor around imo. i've done several of his java courses & only wish he did more android ones. its crazy he's giving this away for free when --- out of 4 android courses i've tried on udemy so far --- this is the best (the other 3 i had to pay for & haven't turned out to be as good)

The course is very good and John is an excellent instructor. I keep returning to this course for refresher information, there is a lot to absorb. The only issue I have is that Android Studio is now the standard and some things don't translate smoothly from Eclipse. I definitely plan to take more courses from John

I found this tutor searching the web and I took his free java course and I really loved the way he explains things, so simple, so then I decided to pay for this course here at udemy and I'm really happy for having done this. Once again John makes it easier to understand his lessons, starting from the basic things and going to more advanced topics in a very logical and organized way. He also includes close caption and that is great for people whose native language isn't english. He also types the code directly, not like some other tutors that just "copy-paste" the codes, there's no missing parts, so you can "sit next to him" and follow the lesson step by step and really understand how everything makes sense. These are just some of the reasons why I voted for him during the poll made here at udemy for the best tutor and he was one of the winners.

I found the course a great primer to get started. The tutorials are simple enough to understand the broad concepts, but this course doesn't take you to advanced UI concepts like ViewPagers and NavigationDrawers. I think this is because the course is becoming a little dated as Google introduces new UI capabilities with each release of Android. But overall, this is a good place to start.

I just started working as a full-time Java programmer, and the developers at my new company were BLOWN AWAY by how well prepared I was after completing the entire set of Java courses from Cave of Programming. I knew my way around things other entry-level programmers have never even heard of (such as Spring, Hibernate and webflow). Not to mention, the guys who hired me had not only heard of Cave of Programming, but also esteemed the training very highly. Thanks, John!!

John progressed through the basics of Android by building an application from scratch and explained the things to know in between. Unlike others there are no powerpoint slides which I hate as a programmer. One thing which is missing is the actual code which should be attached in every video.
