Hi, I'm James. I have helped thousands of people learn how to develop their own games in Unity, and whether you're a first-time developer, or need to refresh your skills, I can help you learn to make the games you want to make.
With a bachelors degree in Computer Science and a background working in independent game development, I have been helping others to create their own games and release them on multiple platforms.
I believe in helping you learn by teaching code in context, so rather than having to memorize a bunch of stuff you've never seen before, you learn how each coding concept can be applied to real working problems in your games.
I can't wait to help you learn all about making your own games and how to make them a success.
So why not start learning to make games with me now?
See you soon!
James

War sehr gut! Dennoch hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass einige andere Punkte angesprochen werden wie z.B. eine kleine Cutscene einbauen oder wie man von einer Slope abrutscht bzw. Geschwindigkeitsanpassung.

I love this course. Used a lot of ideas from this course for my Metroidvania Game Jam entry. James explains everything clearly and I understood everything he explained. Thank you James.

I have taken a ton of Unity Courses. Only a few of them have instructors that go through extra detail to help the student understand the process of what is going on and why. This is one of them. I appreciate the knowledge and ability to teach and strongly recommend this course.

The teacher also teach a problem solving technique rather than only focus on unity and scripting, guide you at the point that you could develop your own small game.

Thorough, good to follow and clear. I like how the instructor takes you through a variety of different ways to achieve the same goal. Also it's interesting to see himself making mistakes and correcting these. Just as you would when developing. Didn't think I'd ever say that about an instructor! :)

I have no experience with game design nor coding. I have a background in Motion Design. This course has been exactly what I needed in order to learn Unity and the basic concepts of coding within this context.

Its an alright lesson, but I kind of wish it had picked up where the youtube courses left off.. I just finished that and starting on this feels like a lot of deja vu. Things that I had really hoped for were an actual hurt animation and a basic player attack other than just the cliche bouncing on enemies heads, I also liked where the camera was going on the youtube course but that seems to have been scrapped to a simpler, albeit much more boring version. I'm sure I can learn these things on my own through outside sources but I would have been pretty disappointed if I paid full price for this course.. Luckily I got it on sale so I still plan on completing. UPDATE: After finishing the course I did up my rating, as stated the first half is similar to his free youtube content but I actually did end up learning a lot by the end. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to create an old school platform game.

James Doyle takes a very step by step approach to teaching the exact bits of code you need. He's also very consious of teaching logic, so he'll guide you through some code that won't end up in the final product. He uses that as a means to build the correct function incrementally. This means you come away with a really great sense of not only what commands are available to you, but how they work, and how to think through implementing them. I've tried for years to learn coding before, but this is the first tutorial I've taken that is, relevant to my interests, engaging, AND leaves a comprehensive understanding of how to think your way through making a script. Would highly recommend.

Overall I'm very satisfied with this course. I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point for people completely new to Unity and c#, you might want to learn the basic concepts for both first before doing this course.
