Hi, I'm James. I have helped thousands of people learn how to develop their own games in Unity, and whether you're a first-time developer, or need to refresh your skills, I can help you learn to make the games you want to make.
With a bachelors degree in Computer Science and a background working in independent game development, I have been helping others to create their own games and release them on multiple platforms.
I believe in helping you learn by teaching code in context, so rather than having to memorize a bunch of stuff you've never seen before, you learn how each coding concept can be applied to real working problems in your games.
I can't wait to help you learn all about making your own games and how to make them a success.
So why not start learning to make games with me now?
See you soon!

Too many topics explained at one session whixh makes it to follow quickly. I restarted to lesson from scratch to understand but this time I lost before I reached to particle effects. Secondly, there are obsolute codes that are not present any more in Unity 6.3. I had to fix these things by myself. Overall the content is qualified but too much for a beginner level.

It's a decent short basics/beginners course, especially if you needing to refresh after some time away from Unity development. The end result is a basic but playable match-3 game but has enough to add your own mechanics and features. Probably needs to be updated for current Unity though I didn't encounter problems creating the project in 2D URP (Unity 6.0).

This was my first time learning a match-3 type game and it was very challenging. It was especially difficult because of the multiple loops and conditional branches at the checkpoints of the board. But I gained a lot of knowledge that I didn't know, so it was very meaningful. Thank you very much.

First of all, I'm not a complete beginner, but I am far from being an expert. If you've never stepped into Unity before, I advise checking out their free beginner tutorials to get familiar with all the basics of the engine before you hop into the course. You may also want to study up a little on C# if you've never coded before, just to get accustomed to programming logic. If you want a good textbook for self-study, I strongly recommend "Introduction to Game Design, Prototyping, and Development (Third Edition)" by Jeremy Gibson Bond. Along with the design and programming lessons, there are 5 different game prototypes (2D and 2.5D) you learn to build, step-by-step in Unity. It's a great resource for complete beginners and even more advanced programmers to kick off their game development journey in Unity. Anyways, this course gave me a great template for building my own Match-3 games. The explanations and clear code enabled me to experiment freely with the gameplay. Lots of good tips are sprinkled throughout this course. I'm looking forward to checking out more courses by this instructor.

I loved your course! You are a Very Good Teacher! I'm going to take the course one more time to better understand some scripts...I really enjoy it! I didn't have any problems with the scripts...or getting stuck somewhere...the explanations are really good...Thanks a lot!!! I'm sure I'll take another course from you.

I am an absolute beginner to C# and I've only used Unity a few times. The coding part of this course was pretty difficult for me to follow at first, but I did some independent research and made it through with a game that works perfectly as well as more knowledge on what I don't know-- further things that I can study to improve. I would recommend fellow beginners look into ".NET frameworks" (code suggester) to make sure they can code efficiently in Visual Studio like the instructor does.

Well explained and entertaining for a weekend project. To improve I suggest that the code needs to be more DRY, and more focus on efficiency and performance would be nice. Also use of more SOLID principles would help make the project more extendable and more realistic to real life production scenarios. There's tonnes of refactoring that could be done in this code to improve it, not that its bad, more just that it could be more maintainable and SOLID. Good course though and gives a good idea of how other people are approaching these kinds of projects. Keep them coming :)

This course is amazing! Definitely worth the price! The instructor doesn't rush and explains well everything he does. Codes are clean and easy to understand, even for beginners. The only issue is that a lecture in a section is outdated but happily, the Q&A section provided enough support to progress. If you want to get the mechanism of a match-3 puzzle game and make your own, this course is the perfect deal for you!

The course was super to follow. One little thing (the half star minus :-)) was, that I wasn´t able to follow the scripting. For a rookie it´s really hard to follow. For me, it will be better, wenn every bigger method will be explained in more detail, row by row. This will be getting to a longer course, but I think, it helps a lot of people, who are (relative) new in coding. But all in all it`s a great course from a very good teacher! Thanks a lot!

So far this has been a great learning experience! I am getting a lot of good info from this tutorial! Instructor speaks clearly and very prepared for the subject! Halfway through and this is a really good tutorial to this point. I am learning more with each lesson! Just completed the course and really enjoyed it. James is a great instructor. I have learned a lot on this project and am very pleased with the course all together.
