Hi, I'm James. I have helped thousands of people learn how to develop their own games in Unity, and whether you're a first-time developer, or need to refresh your skills, I can help you learn to make the games you want to make.
With a bachelors degree in Computer Science and a background working in independent game development, I have been helping others to create their own games and release them on multiple platforms.
I believe in helping you learn by teaching code in context, so rather than having to memorize a bunch of stuff you've never seen before, you learn how each coding concept can be applied to real working problems in your games.
I can't wait to help you learn all about making your own games and how to make them a success.
So why not start learning to make games with me now?
See you soon!
James

Yes! I have successfully finished the course. I've learned many new things that I wasn't aware of, and I had a great time while learning. I have to admit that there were moments when I felt like giving up, but I managed to boost my motivation by taking a day off. It also excited me to think about all the things I'll be able to do now with what I've learned. I've purchased other courses on Udemy related to different subjects. One of them was about programming mobile applications, which I bought two years ago. Unfortunately, the instructor removed the course, so I couldn't complete it, and I didn't receive a refund either. Please, don't remove this course. I still need it as it contains information I haven't fully grasped yet, and I also need more practice. I've also bought several of your other courses, and I find them incredibly interesting. Thank you for providing this course. You are an excellent instructor. Keep up the good work!

Super useful course to learn a bunch of multipler related things but I like how we were taught to create a single-player shooter and then shown how to then translate that to a network. I think shortcuts were taken but honestly that was super useful just to get the main points across. I think this is a good starting point to progress further and expand upon what was learned in the course. He avoided a lot of time wasting stuff like refactoring which honestly for a tutorial is fine. If you have any development knowledge you know to refactor after anyway to make it easier in the future

This course was a great match for me. I was looking for a course that would break down the process of setting up multiplayer systems with Unity and PUN and James has done that with this course. The process flows nicely and logically from one idea to the next, so that tools and systems are implemented when needed. Also, I learnt how to set up a first person shooter character and a weapon cool down system at the same time!

Absolutely love the author, everything is well explained and I like this style when the author is coding with you and also making mistakes which are then fixed, this really helps with learning for me. Making such a cool game with such a short course is mindblowing for me but it all really works great. I would really love to see some follow-up course polishing this game with e.g. more about sound effects over the network, weapon recoil, reloading, pickup ammo and health, spectator mode or migration to the new Photon engine for FPS. One little suggestion for improvement, sometimes I felt that you could name your methods and variables a little bit better and clearer. Also, some scripts were so big that I felt they would deserve splitting into multiple smaller scripts but I know this is more about personal preference. Great course! Hope to see more from you!

Very good job explaining things. I think the Enums and event systems should be broken down to small chunk videos but I got it just fine. Everything works and it's so well thought out. I like how the asset folder is always just there making sure every learner's experience is the same. Great course! Wish there's more game type like RPG you can help us build from scratch like this but otherwise no worries. Learned a lot from this. RPC + raise events is the way to go I guess

Everything is good about this course , the way james teach , james himself [he is a good teacher] but , i will warn you that if you are not a good/experience programmer don't do it or else you're gonna have a hard time , cause it's networking programming it's not easy and plus theres no help at all in Q&A section like nothing , people have posted questions and for months it's there without answers even though i finished the course there were lot of things that didn't worked for me and it was very frustrating as no one was there to help me , but either way i finished it. So, good luck if you buy this course, other than that it's a good course for those who want to learn about making online games.

Well put together course that covers a lot of material. I think some people might complain that certain features like player name tags or muzzle flashes/hit impacts not being visible to other players are missing, but I took that as a challenge to solve those problems on my own. I think this is a great beginner framework for working in Unity and Photon. Good job James, I've been following you for a while on Youtube and this was money well spent.

This is a good start to multiplayer gamedev, however there are some elements missing, if you're looking for a complete base game you could reference from. Firstly, showing players in your match lacks funcionality to delete players that left the match from the list that shows all players, so even if the player left the match he still will be shown on the list for other players to see, This one was the biggest issue with me. Next, there is a bug with showing rooms, what bug you ask, if you create a room and quickly exit from it and try to join some other room, no room will show up in the search until you reload the game. If you expect a good communication with author, you won't get any here.

Wow!! What an absolutely terrific course. James does a fantastic job explaining exactly what he is doing and more importantly why he is doing it. He took a very complicated subject, Networking Games, and made the subject understandable and very enjoyable. And, in the end you have great source code to use in other projects and a pretty darn good game to boot; that’s actually fun to play with others. I have purchased ten Unity Programming Courses through Udemy. I have enjoyed eight of the courses and up until now would have rated the GameDev.tv courses with (Ben/Rick/Sam) the best. This course just took the lead. I would highly recommend purchasing this course. 5 stars!!!
