Course Description
Hello, I’m Single-minded Ryan.
In this course, we are going to make a 3D action game with Godot. In the game you will control Andie, our little adventurer, to explore an ancient world. You’ll need to defeat the enemies and collect enough coins to enable the portal at the end stage to finish the game.
Godot is a beginner-friendly and highly efficient game engine, its refined and intuitive workflow can save us a lot of time and effort, and I also believe Godot can achieve high-quality game graphics.
My goal is to create a visual-oriented course to show you the potential of Godot.
I want to combine the intuitive workflow with production-level graphics, to immerse you in the experience where you feel like you are making a real game from scratch.
This course comes with a production-level game asset package, including high-quality characters with high-resolution textures, materials, animations, environment models, a pre-constructed level, and a bundle of VFX.
(sound & music not included at the moment)
Along the course, you are going to learn everything you need to make your own game, from how to code in GDScript, how to control the characters, create enemy AI, control the animations and VFX, design the game level, create the game UI, all the way to how to compile your game to EXE files.
I will try to focus on every detail, but at the same time, it would be great if you have some basic experience with some programming language. You don't necessarily need to know anything about GDScript, but it helps if you understand some general programming ideas such as how variables and functions work.
By the end of this course, you will have a 3D action game that you can show off to your friends.
Please enroll today, I'm looking forward to seeing you in the course.
At the end of this course, you will be able to do things like:
Customize Godot's settings for your game and your workflow
Code in GDScript, which is Godot's built-in programming language
Code basic character movement, attack, and dodge abilities
Create an attack combo system
Use Godot's input system
Control animations with AnimationPlayer node
How to communicate from the animations to the script
Create animations to move and rotate objects
Control material effect with GDScript and animation
Control VFX via GDScript
Create Enemy AI with Godot's Navigation System
Control Enemy's behaviors like spawn and dead
Use a state pattern to control the Player and the Enemy's status
Create a health & damage system
Create a health pick-up
Create a coin-collecting system
Create a Game logic manager
Design the Game Level
Create 3D text UI
How to load and reset game scenes
Create a main menu and game menu with the Godot UI system
How to create buttons and control button functions with GDScript
How to export the game project into EXE files
Please NOTE that this course DOES NOT contain any sound and music assets at the moment.
*All of the assets (models, animations, VFX, etc.) provided in this course are only for educational purposes, please do not use them in any commercial projects.

Hi, I'm Single-Minded Ryan, a self-self-taught game developer. Before I became a programmer, I had been working as a digital artist for a really long time, so how games look really matters to me. Also, along the way I learned Unity and programming, I went through a lot of the struggles that people often face when first entering this exciting new world.
I will try my best to provide beginner-friendly tutorials with high-quality assets, so you can enjoy the experience by seeing production-level games build up in your hands from the beginning.
I can wait to help you learn all of the amazing things about game development, hope you will enjoy the journey with me!
See you soon.
Ryan.

The 3D world with all assets given, does make this game good. The world has multiple rooms, seperated by stairs. 1 enemy type. Enemy spawns after entering a specific area. Enemy has 1 attack and follows you. When Enemy dies it drops 1 Health potion dropped after killing enemy. To finish the game, you have to gather coins, which you may place everywhere you like. The game ends when you have enough coins, and enter the final animated portal. Game UI that is made by us students: title screen, pause screen, game over screen, with buttons that change with mouse over. I strongly suggest all students use Godot 4.1 to program this game, Godot 4.3 will mess up some code, and cause at least 1 problem, that is the green grass will not be shown. At the end we learn to export the game as an exe file. Overall, I see how much effort this teacher has put into this course. I hope he will create more, using Godot functions that he did not use before. Or create an course to create this amazing small 3D world. Just a small suggestion: would be nice to add more programming time reducing methods: like using Godot "access as unique name" then you don't need to drag nodes into Godot window, that also prevents vreaking the game ,as the node is referenced by unique name, so Godot will take care of that. You can move the nodes around to clean up the project nodes as you like, without making a huge mess and have to fix it again. It would have been nice. If he could supply the complete Godot project as a git download perhaps. Which rminds me, git is important. Laern that first please. Also, Teacher is perhaps busy. He did not reply to my questions. I don't mind. I just be honest with what I find important. Everyone is a teacher and student at the same time. I do have respect for him. But different countries different ways of thinking and feelings. Not always possible to please everyone. Because of the small things. It is a 4.5 star worthy. almost perfect. Hope to see more courses in the future from him.

I loved this course from the very start! The assets you work with are beautiful and makes it very fun to work with. I couldn't wait to see what we were building next. Every lesson was bite-sized, making it easier to go back to recall something I might not have fully understood. I just kept coming back for more! The instructor responded to all of my questions and with helpful answers. I am very confident in my ability to learn more about Godot now. Very thankful! I would to see a course on level design!! Thank You So Much!!

So far everything works. I had a few quirks here and there. I feel the explanations are short, which is fine. However, trying to learn something is best when explained in better detail. For instance just saying click this and change number to that then click this and change to that. Seems like it is missing the reasons why we are clicking things and simply changing them. Of course nothing is perfect. But overall, very good course so far. I also think Godot was meant to be broken down into scenes. Meaning, the Player should be its own scene, the UI should be its own scene, the Enemy and so forth... then you call each scene as required into the main scene. That's my understanding of Godot and one of its benefits over other game engines such as Unity. I think calling individual scenes into other scenes makes it more proificient. Of course that's just my oppinion. Not certain how much truth there is to this. :)

I love the way it is explained, with short videos and everything outside (like assets) he already has ready for you to use, good quality assets by the way, the end result is very professional. Even still a huge amount of things to make a complete game, like settings and inventory, for an action 3D game it is a very good course. I recommend.

This course so far has been amazing. The teacher knows his stuff, and goes through everything slow enough (for me, a beginner) to grasp without having to constantly rewind, although I do sometimes, lol. He answers questions and seems very willing to continue helping people which is great. I wish the course were a bit longer, Maybe he will add a few more sections ;) Also I wish the assets were available to use for commercial projects. It is not common to get assets for a course and be limited by license to only using them for personal projects, since no-one is doing that. Other than that, It's a great course.

Fantastic course! It offers great value for money, covers a wide range of topics, and goes into great depth. Unlike other courses that only scratch the surface with simplistic games, this course dives deep and builds a lot of functionality into a single game. The State Machine covered is a very useful pattern. The course is broken down into bite-sized lectures, making it easy to fit a lecture here and there into your busy schedule. Does this course cover everything needed to create your own games? No, it does not (does any?). This course focuses on the coding aspects of game development and putting the game logic together, rather than asset creation and importing. However, this course really delivers on game development with GDScript. I would love it if Ryan would release a second course that covers asset preparation (importing models, animation, materials, etc.), setting up effects and different particle systems, and working with audio. That way, I’ll have a complete foundation on creating 3D games in Godot. Note: I wouldn’t recommend this course to someone who is completely new to Godot. It’s better to start with a smaller, simpler course to get a feel for game development, then come back and take this course to build your skills further.

Thanks, I asked you few months ago on your YT to make us a course, this will save me so much time, I'm developing 2D game but I faced a problem in 2D it seems a common issue so far , the 2D sprite keep flickering no matter what you do or try from online forums, I'm changing my whole dev to 3D, I think in 3D you don't face this flickering problem. Thanks again wish your course top selling rank.

Explanations: The biggest issue is the "click here, click there, now click here" mindset and the lack of explaining the concept behind the choice and why it's a good choice when working with Godot. This course is more about getting to know where things are located rather than about learning how to make games with Godot. There are a few explanations about why something is done, but that is the exception and not the rule. Pacing: Another negative is that the pacing is a bit inconsistent, sometimes it takes thirty seconds to press a button, while inputting code and moving on to something else can be done within seconds. Of course, there's the pause button, but the pacing together with the "click here, click there" mentality makes it all feel rushed and not very deep. Summary: I would not recommend this course if you have no prior experience with other game engines, and you will probably be more confused than knowledgeable when you're done. If you have worked with other engines and understand how to make games, then this course may work as a quick overview to get you familiar with Godot. I fall in the second group, and while I do have a better understanding of Godot and could add things by myself and troubleshoot things I messed up, I'll need a lot more practice before I can start making game prototypes on my own.

The game you make is undeniably pretty. however, there is little to no room to expand and apply what you learn and you pretty much just follow along what the instructor tells you. the best thing that can be said is that the bite-size format of the videos makes it very digestable.

If you're looking for a comprehensive beginner's course on 3D development that covers everything in great detail, this might not be the perfect fit. However, if you're interested in following the entire journey of creating a 3D game and don't mind doing some additional research on your own, then this course could be a great choice. Despite the focused approach, the explanations were clear and easy to follow, introducing some really interesting concepts along the way. The moments when he did explain something in detail added a lot to my learning experience. I want to express my gratitude to the creator for putting together this informative series. It has certainly helped me better understand the world of 3D game development.
