Course Description
High performance doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when leaders create the clarity, consistency, accountability, trust, and strong working relationships that allow people to do their best work.
Most managers want to lead high-performing teams, but putting effective management into practice every day can be challenging. Managers are balancing competing priorities, changing goals, different personalities, tight deadlines, and employees who need varying levels of direction and support.
This course gives you practical tools and strategies to build and lead a high-performing team without creating a culture of burnout, constant pressure, or micromanagement.
You’ll learn how to establish clear expectations, motivate and engage employees, coach effectively, delegate with greater confidence, strengthen accountability, provide meaningful feedback, lead more useful 1:1 meetings, and support employee development.
You’ll learn how to:
• Set clear, actionable expectations
• Define successful performance
• Communicate priorities and responsibilities
• Motivate and engage employees
• Build trust with the people you manage
• Delegate more effectively
• Coach employees without solving every problem for them
• Give constructive and positive feedback
• Address performance concerns earlier
• Build accountability without micromanaging
• Balance employee autonomy with appropriate support
• Lead more productive 1:1 meetings
• Support employee growth and career development
• Navigate changing priorities and expectations
• Build habits that contribute to sustainable high performance
You’ll also explore how to avoid two common management extremes: micromanaging capable employees and providing too little support to employees who need more direction.
A high-performing team is not simply a team that produces more work. Sustainable high performance requires people to understand their priorities, have appropriate resources and support, communicate openly, trust their manager, and know where they stand.
Whether you’re a new manager, an experienced leader, or someone responsible for developing others, this course will give you practical approaches you can begin using immediately.
By the end of the course, you’ll be better equipped to motivate people, build trust, develop talent, increase accountability, improve communication, and create the conditions where employees can perform at their best.

I have been struggling alot in the space of giving feedback and the role plays are very helpful in supporting improvement in this area. My only challenge is that am struggling with one of my staff who I totally broke trust with for she used an opportunity while on leave to tarnish me before my supervisor. I am trying hard but keep lapsing. I need help

Taking this course felt both challenging and rewarding for me. At first, I had to adjust to the pace and expectations, especially when balancing theory with practical application. There were moments when the workload seemed overwhelming, but those same moments pushed me to become more disciplined and reflective in my learning. What made the experience meaningful was how relevant the content was to real-life situations. I found myself not just completing task, but actually understanding and appreciating how the lessons could be applied in my work and daily life. The discussions encouraged deeper thinking and allowed me to see different perspectives. Overall, it was a good match for me. It aligned with my interests and professional goals, and it helped me grow both personally and professionally.

spoken language is fast and the concepts are many and there is no easy access to them. Of course its also very difficult to refer back to them if needed.

Good course, appreciate the level of detail provided on different aspects to provide content and ways to work with your team, for example, preparing to provide feedback, impactful 1:1's and creating a culture of feedback were all powerful lessons.

The topics are current to today's struggles in the work place. The pace and structure is excellent, Introducing and explaining the topic with references, then breaking the topic down into understandable actions. I especially liked the Do this and Don't do this examples in Trust.

I think it’s important to put a focus on the way feedback is delivered in both a positive and constructive way so I appreciate that this course provides that. The one area that I would like to see more about is giving feedback transparently and addressing things directly with the individual as opposed to a team announcement.

It has a lot of great content, it's just overloaded with information. The course duration is drastically underestimated. To accurately take notes and follow along the course length should be adjusted or it should be broken up into separate courses. I'm 1 hour into the course and I'm only on section 2.

I'm having difficulty understanding what motivates a young employee who is clearly bright, intelligent, and well-educated. It feels to me that the are less motivated to do the work they were hired to do and more interested in doing alternative kinds of work within the organization. I don't know if it's a generational difference in work ethics or if the new employee came to us with a resume that indicated greater experience than what truly existed. As one of the younger staff members, there is definitely a level of social immaturity which did not show up during zoom interview (during Covid). The question for me is: Does this person need training and hand-holding to do the work they were hired to do, or does they need to find a job whose day-to-day functions better align with his interests? This employee on-boarded remotely, so that was strange to start. There was little we could do in the way of training at the time, since so much of the work was about getting to know their constituency. But we were afraid to not hire him when we did, because the position had been open for so long, there is a dearth of these kinds of professionals in the marketplace, and they seemed a perfect fit. Now almost two years have gone by, and there is very little improvement in motivation or (from what I can tell) engagement by the employee with the job for which they were actually hired. Employee is still contributing to the organization in myriad ways, but it essentially still leaves an opening that they were meant to fill.

This is one of the more applicable and poignant leadership modules I've come across. These are all very good and well-supported suggestions that give a number of useful, applicable tips while maintaining the right mindset throughout.
