Affinity Photo: Beyond the Basics! (Udemy.com)

Ally always delivers. She's just an excellent teacher who lets us constantly repeat certain principles like workflow and methods, to the point where certain actions become so natural to you, that you almost forget it's only a recent addition to the toolbox. As Ctr I was to me. The only thing I disagreed with was the shadows, as I preferred them more precise.

I’ve done various courses for Affinity Photo and Designer. Now we’re at the newest version, and I still find these older courses helpful. Affinity Revolution puts out a lot of content, and seems to be very popular. I can understand why! I’ve learned so much about making selections and using color correction tools that I either didn’t know about before, or didn’t have a good understanding. I’m giving it 5 stars, and my only *complaint* is it appears questions are no longer being answered. I believe the course is 3 years old now, so maybe that’s why.

Once again, this is an amazing course from Affinity Revolution. The projects and images are interesting and good-looking, and the pace is good, with clear instructions every step of the way - somehow never getting dull despite repetitions, which helps you remember everything. If I had unlimited funds I would buy all the courses from Affinity Revolution :)

I find the instructor goes a little too quick and I often miss steps while trying to undertake the task she is demonstrating.

I give the course the highest score because it fully meets my expectations. I needed lessons that started from the basics but also gives useful ideas and guidance for advanced learners. Ally, the excellent course leader, has structured her lessons to provide useful and effective knowledge. I always find a lesson that helps me edit my current photo... So, thank you Udemy, thank you Ally!

I've been unable to have time on my computer over the past year as I have been caring for my Mom through her illness. I now have other carers stepping in so I can have time for my hobbies, especially Affinity. This course will be a learning boost to get back up to speed. Ally is an excellent tutor...she explains everything so well, making it easier for some of the complexities of Affinity to remember.

I think this is overall a great course. As a total newcomer to photo editing, I learned a lot from the two courses (Beginners, Beyond the Basics) created by Affinity Revolution. That there are quite a few topics that proceed way too quickly may not be the weak points (given that viewers can rewind as many times as they need), but among them some are covered rather in a slapdash manner, leading the viewer to seek more understanding outside the course. The "Child Layer" in the Beginners course can be one example of them. If these were taken care of, these courses would have been even greater.

Wow, what an excellent course! I enjoyed it and have learned so much. Each exercise with its pre-selected pictures worked exactly as demonstrated and the final 3 compositing exercises were brilliant. Just a tiny bit of constructive feed back would be to advise labelling the various layers, etc as I got lost a few times in the final exercises - particularly with the various shadow pixel layers. In the final exercise I labelled everything and it made finding layers to retouch so much easier. You're a great teacher and I love watching your YouTube demos. I highly recommend this course and I am sure I will refer back from time-to-time to refresh my memory. Thank you!

I found this course to be a great extension to the Affinity photo 2 for beginners course. I like Ally's approach to editing. The explanation of the tools a tool properties is very good and the exercises work well to deepen the understanding of the tools and their application. Good course well delivered.

Seldom do I ever write a review. That said, I enjoy Ally's instructions, delivery and precise descriptions of all the different processes with Affinity. Her courses are well thought out and easy to follow. This is my 2nd course (Affinity Photo and Advanced Affinity). I am also working with Ally on Affinity Publisher and will start Affinity Designer shortly thereafter. Besides Ally's instructions, she is delight to listen to and her enthusiasm is contagious. I find myself of often sitting back in my chair and saying (after a particular nugget of instruction) saying "Wow! That really cool"
