Affinity Photo: Master Photo Editing in Affinity Photo 2 (Udemy.com)

Just as he says himself in the course, he's a photo compositor and fantasy artist and not a professional photo editor. When it came to workflows, again he reminded me to go and follow the workflows of the photo editors that I liked. Now, I've already done the courses by Simon Foster and Affinity Revolution in Affinity Photo editing and this course so far being halfway through it, is by far of inferior quality in terms of photo editing to the ones by Simon Foster and Affinity Revolution. As to the advantages of the course, any level users can still take lots of skills and knowldge from this course, or at least strengthen and revise what they already know. There's some real excellent retouching methods taught in it, such as blend ranges and gradient usage in compositions, and maybe it's because the experience and skills I'd already gained through other courses gave me this impression what I said above and that I'm way past beginner level already writing this review. But as well as I've revised what I'd already learned, I've still gained some new retouchings in terms of compositing such as sky replacements and the use of live filter layers in them, and I'm sure there's going to be some more sueful techniques ahead as I'm following it. So, I don't regret taking this course, it's nice to get the insight and expertise of the software by a different instructor, and there's been some nice teachings provided as good practices about managing new document presets, brush creation techniques, double exposure effects, user interface, its persona and software update explanations, core foundational teaching on layers, adjustments and many other useful suggestions for all users. Overal, I'm happy to be following this course which is going to be added to my catalogue of Affinity courses on Udemy and my review isn't for discouraging you to buy it. You're going to enjoy and learn more, and if you're beyond beginner level user like me with Affinity Photo, it's still going to be useful to revise and take something from it. Cheers..

The lessons runs at a lovely even toned talk. a lot of information packed in the programme and though I've been using Affinity photo for years its great to put a name to some of the techniques and better disciplines in order and execution of some of the tools, studio etc. Glad I did the course now and look forward to expanding my knowledge on my future images. Jeremy is such a good teacher. I remember taking his Procreate course back when I first began my digital art journey, probably six years ago. I knew nothing from nothing about any of these tools. After that course I was relatively comfortable. At the time I didn't know where the road would take me, but here I am, years later, after becoming proficient in Adobe before unexpectedly defecting to Affinity due to Adobe's nonsense. Looking around for a good crash course, my path has led me to learn from Jeremy again. He is a super professional who knows his stuff. After a couple weeks with this course I feel all ramped up on Photo v2 and all ready to cook. I think many students will feel the same way after this course. I really enjoyed this course. I did both v1 and v2. I never really understood masking and layers but now I have walked away with so much more knowledge and a few more skills that I probably would have struggled with. Thanks Jeremy Hazel, I know you tend to wander every so often but it all comes good in the end. A great tutor! I am now getting into Beginners guide to compositing and enjoying it up to now.

So, even though I have noodled around with graphics programs in the past, I came to this course with two problems. I didn't know how to edit photos and I didn't know how to use this tool. But after this course, BOOM! Problem solved, problem staying solved. I learned how to use the tool and learned a lot about the art of photo retouching. I need to practice more but I now understand all that can be done to a photograph and how to accomplish it. There are all sorts of effects that I always wished that I could do that I now know how to do. This will be very useful for me as I learn more about photography.

This was a fabulous course and amazing to see it updated to V2 of Affinity. There was so much content i have constantly been in and out to learn and remind myself how to do something. The presenter set just the right tone and the lessons just flowed. Great assets supplied in support. I have seen nothing better that in any way compares. Well done to all at Udemy.

You keep throwing in advanced stuff saying we will be getting to it later. To some extent, that is fine, but you do not what the advanced technique is actually doing. Opacity is a simple example. You may say what the effect is doing but how is that effect accomplished in the editing? Same with gradient, etc.. It is obvious that the instructor is very artistic and talented. Spelling, no so much. Many of the pop-ups have misspelling in them. Am getting great insights in the use of many of the tools I never looked at before.

HEALTH WARNING - THIS IS NOT A COURSE FOR BEGINNERS if you are an absolute beginner and need to know exactly how to use Affinity Photo then this is not the course. From the outset you are into some complex techniques - non of which seem to blend together. What is it then? If you are a creative artist or a designer then this explains how to use the tools create effects (must admit most are quite stunning though). The first twelve sections don't really explain what things are and, interestingly, at the end of the twelfth session you are told that very few people manage to get that far (says it all, I suppose). Then there are some sessions which explain things but at times not very well. The things I would have thought you needed to know fairly early on are left until the very last session. You are now wondering why I stuck with it. I am not a creative artist or graphic designer but I found it interesting in a weird sort of way. I may even come back to use some of the ideas. I certainly didn't think it worthwhile doing any of the coursework. Finally, if you are an absolute beginner and want to learn Affinity Photo properly you can do no better that to look at or subscribe to InAffinity for Affinity Photo on you tube.

I am a senior citizen with no photographic skills or art training. I took this course after seeing some of Jeremy Hazel's videos online and appreciated his teaching style. My intent is to learn how to edit and salvage old family photos, some of which are over 100 years old. Jeremy explains all the tools and features of Affinity Photo very well. This has given me a solid starting point for further learning

the lessons and exercises are helping me retain the features in the program, and giving me a workflow to follow (1/2 way through now:) I love that you don't edit out the mistakes. I was always getting stuck when something didn't work, now I know how to fix it. UPDATE: Came back and took the course over again this past month, and finished it! I learned a lot the first time, but this second time, things were much clearer now that I had a working knowledge of the program.
