he is using a old version of Godot and i don't have the same buttons as him or they are moved or renamed if you don't want to use a old version and learn the new version i would go else where. its super frustrating spending 2 hours following along just to find out you don't have the same button and now are left with a useless incomplete title screen because you don't have a expand button and now you title screen buttons are off screen and you have no idea how to fix it

The first section was basic but exactly what a new Godot programmer would need. The instructor has a nice, engaging voice that is easy to listen to.

I really like how we are starting with the title screen. Other tutorials always start with player movement and it gets complicated immediately. I think it would be a nice addition if you did include how to use git for version control. You have a nice voice to listen to, I am glad I found this tutorial.

This is the most confusing course I've ever taken. The variable and function naming are terrible, with inconsistent conventions everywhere. You're a Java developer, so why not follow standard Java style consistently? I'm tired of reworking things over and over between lessons, which brings almost no benefit to me. I'm giving 3 stars because the course does present good ideas and interesting problems to solve, and it helped me explore many Godot functions. However, this course is not suitable for beginners, as you constantly have to debug and fix broken code.

This is one of the best courses I’ve taken on Udemy so far. The explanations are crystal clear, detailed, and easy to follow every step of the way. It makes learning Godot both fun and engaging. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get started with game development!

Very promising course so far. I'd say this one isn't recommended for beginners, as your first godot course per se, but it's really good if you're intermediate level (if you're familiar with godot already and know the basics of gdscript). Right at the beginning it teaches us already how to implement a loading screen and a more detailed UI than most of the courses. So far I enjoyed it and I recommend it.

Whereas other tutorials I've seen teach one concept at a time and feel very student-centric and rehearsed, this one feels very off-the-cuff and that everything is thrown together, resulting in what can be a confusing experience even when you are already very familiar with many of the concepts presented. In part this is because of the fact that they focus on building a game scene by scene rather than focusing on teaching core concepts; and in part it's because it's not edited or scripted very well, so the teacher rambles on a bit and gives too many concepts at once. You can learn from this, and it's very practical, however you will have a harder time, especially as a beginner, learning from this particular course.

Probably the best 2d course for godot4. 1. The teacher is great at explaining the material, + it's not boring to listen to it. 2. The lectures started immediately using the best practices. 3. In general, an interesting idea of the project. The review was written at the stage of passing chapter 3. Upon completion of the course, I will supplement the review.

The pacing is great. I'd much rather pause when I need to than wave my hands in the air hoping to get to the part that I need to. The instructor is knowledgeable and anytime I have a question in my head he's answering it a few seconds later.
By Richard Wallace on 11/19/2024
The instructor goes over the navigation in Godot and explains each control or menu item as they have been used in the class. This class seems more oriented for beginners, which is what I have been looking for.
