Yeah it's a great course. Stephen's fast-paced delivery is perfect for this level of difficulty. The "challenge" approach is so good. I started treating every lecture as a challenge by just watching the lecture intro and going away and trying to add the new feature myself, then coming back to see how Stephen did it.

This course was a pleasant surprise. The author explains very well and focuses on practical examples. I am very satisfied and highly recommend this course to anyone looking to improve the look & feel of 2D games.

Extremly interesting tutorial! I have not just learned a thing or two, but a lot =)
By Sundarraman Ramalingam on 9/13/2025
Absolutely accelerated my learning but if you are a complete beginner in coding, I would not recommend starting with this. If you still wish to do so, remember to use online mediums to learn more about the topics discuss here.

I found the course very enjoyable, and the result plays quite nicely. However, I would prefer if there was more discussion on why a specific feature is implemented, how it affects the overall feeling, and what alternatives might be available. It’s a follow-along course that can serve as a reference, but only if you're working within a similar genre. Other than that, as always, great work! I'm looking forward to the next course.

The course is perfect for learning Unity in conjunction with C#. The further I progress through the course, the more I understand the connections. The only thing that bothered me at the beginning was the speed. But I solved this by slowing down the playback speed. All in all, a great course.
By Ola Sehlén on 1/20/2024
Great course and instructor that maintains a high tempo with plenty of engaging use cases. The only issue I find is that while the course begins with excellent architecture and clean code, it starts to falter in the last section. The polish section focuses too much on maintaining the course's high tempo, resulting in too many shortcuts in the code structure. Overall, highly recommend!

Full star rating! Like most GameDev courses, this one is also recommended. Unity's object pooling, scriptable objects, event, interfaces, cinemachine and much more was well explained. Playback at 0.75 speed was easy to understand for me. Thanks to the GameDev.tv team and especially to Stephan in this course.
By Rasa on 11/30/2023
Great course, but too fast going through things. I need to set 0.75x speed to follow up
By Michael Heinrichs on 11/22/2023
This is an awesome tutorial. The material is presented very effectively and Stephen H. has a great inflection and tone, and amazing pace that makes it easy to work through the material. The information is packed with good tips and effective clean programming. I found that he called out his thought process about the decisions that were made. This helps marry the cause to the effect that you are programming. The fact that it is starting from an already created game loop also helps bring to the for front other skills that do not normally get fostered, like seeing how someone else put together systems. To see how to work with existing code. This is a shining example of a course and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to create a 2D Game or any game for that matter. Great Job, GameDevTv and Great Job Stephen Hubble!
