I have always been fascinated by video games and how they create immersive and realistic worlds. However, I also struggled with maths and felt like I was missing out on the essential skills to understand and create video games. That’s why I decided to enroll in the Math For Video Games course offered by the GameDev tv Team. This course has taught me the fundamentals of maths for video games in a very comprehensive way that no one ever could so far on which I can build further relevant knowledge. The course covers topics relevant for video game development but can also be applied in other areas of maths as well. The instructors are very knowledgeable and engaging, and explain the concepts with clear exercises but what I miss in the course are applied examples, which could help understand the concepts even better and where this can come in very handy. However, thanks to this course, I have gained a solid foundation in maths for video games and I feel more confident and prepared to tackle some more advanced and specialised topics of interest. I am more than grateful for the knowledge acquired than words can ever describe. This course has been a game-changer for me and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn or improve their maths skills for video game development or maths in general.

It's a good general introduction to several areas of Math pertaining to game development. Would have preferred if some of the ultra-basic concepts and explanations were skipped in favor of more valuable content. The section on quaternions needs better explanation. Reflection of Vector formula is just thrown out without providing an easy conceptual explanation. This is still a basic course and should either deserve a part 2 or an expansion covering floating point representations and associated errors, linear equations using Matrices, homogeneous matrices, viewing and projection, lighting, curves, basic collision/intersection testing and rigid body dynamics. I like the pacing and the instructors.

I Suck at maths, like really suck and I struggled with some of the later topics in this course. However, that doesn't mean that I can't go back and give those topics another watch and try to understand. The coaches were really good at explaining things and I understood what they were doing in the equations even in some of the later topics. I really recommend this if you struggle with maths, I might not be able to do Quaternions but if I really wanted to understand them and master them I would come back to this course and keep on doing it until I got it. I still struggled with Algebra but the teachers made it so easy to understand that I have become a lot more confident working with equations. Many thanks to the coaches you did a superb job!!

This course is really amasing for me, and I gonna go over it one more time. But in my own oppinion(maybe there is somebody who has the same oppinion) this course has lack of practice. Challanges and quizes are very good, but it is completely insufficient for understanding and memorising. I'll be very grateful if you provide more and more practice after each lecture(at least 10-15 excercises). It could be a file with escercises in resourses dropdown for lecture or it could be a link to external resourse with exercises that match with the topick of a lecture.

Great course! You absolutely must take it if you want to start your gamedev journey with solid understanding of math fundamentals of how things work in games and how you're supposed to create your logic on mathematical side. Despite most of covered topics were familiar to me from school the explanations and examples took my understanding of them to the new level and now I feel much more confident, I understand what mistakes I made in my previous projects and how can I fix them and avoid in the future, how they should've been solved, for example now I know how angle and direction logic is really meant to be realized. Also I should mention the amazing community where you can share your progress, discuss math-related things and ask for even more thorough explanations, I visited the discussions to lectures numerous times to find answers to my questions, and oh, how often I thought "what a great explanation, why no one could tell me this before, it would've changed a lot for me". Garry is best teacher ever, and I'm so happy I found his course, it's excactly what I needed for my next step in gamedev. Thank you so much!

This Math Course is probably one of the most solid ones out there, it has excelent explication, has cover the most important topics of Maths, and make you have a solid fundation about other areas or deepness of maths (like some formulas). An as a enthusiastic teenager of programming and videogames I can definitive recommend this course, I even have a whole folder covering all the topics though out the course. However you must consider that this course, as the name suggest, is not for math in code, it is rather for math for videogames, which is a totally different objetive that this course has.

I personally think this course is great. I specifically wanted to learn how to do quaternion rotation because I really struggled to find a resource that was easy to understand since rotating in 4 dimensions is quite an abstract concept. Most of the maths books I've read relating to linear algebra were written in a way that made the subject more complex that it actually is and this course gives you the information you need in plain 'English.' This course is also a great refresher for other earlier mathematics that you would encounter at secondary school level and I even learned a few things I never encountered before like the tau symbol (we never used it in high school). I think it was great that they went through different notations for different things in-case you encounter it in later reading, so I like how this course also prepares you for further reading. This is a great course for anyone of any level past high school, and I will be recommending this course to my friends.

I am 33 y/o. I took this course for the reason of understanding the math, behind all the gameplay programming I'm doing in Unity, better. First of all, this course's teacher (Gary Pettie, he teaches everything after section one) is amazing for being able to explain math in a very clear, easy to follow and easy to understand way. Math I didn't fully grasp in the past, due to bad or overly complicated explanations, now suddenly make sense. The course starts with the basics of basics but quickly picks up to the interesting parts that relate to game development. This was a great course to revisit most of the math I saw in the past, to then add some new and useful math in the later lectures. Now back to gameplay programming with a better understanding of what's going on behind the scenes!

Coming from a maths heavy background, this was a nice way to brush up on some of the less complicated topics I used to know well in university. I would have liked to have seen a bit more focus on some of the more intricate mathematical concepts and how they might apply to game design. Basic calculus is only a small step beyond what the course touches upon and could have provided a foundation for those looking to get into physics engine development and whatnot. With that being said, this is overall a very good course for beginners in my opinion and had I had it when I was studying engineering in university it would have made certain-albeit early-topics easier by providing insights or ways of looking at maths that wouldn't normally be taught. Good work as always guys!

This is a pretty good course which not only did help me to brush up some knowledge, but also, strengthen some and learn something new. However, it would be better, if there will be more explanation about how some things are used in game dev more detailed (probability, matrices etc.) In addition, it would be great, if you add a lecture about rotation vectors around a given point (e.g. howe to calculate a position around the point). And also, in my opinion, you should add some physics section, where you can explain some kinematic physics. And physics representation through vectors. And I wish you made a practice course in which you show and teach how to use trigonometry, vectors, easing in programming using simple projects and covering the most common tasks.
