good so far. My second instructor in unreal. He does things differently and that is a good thing so far, learning different ways to accomplish the same thing. I chose this series cause gorka has made some real games and i specifically want to make a survivor-style game

Very good. Sometimes its a bit fast and the lecturer is saying what he is doing but not a clear reason on why he is doing something. So understanding the structure is still a bit unclear. Would have liked to see how to deal with attacks that only happen on stone can be done with pick axe and attacks on tree can only be done with axe for example.

Hi Gorka, This was a really fun time to spend. I was really happy to be able to follow up and to achieve the same things as you because I'm speaking from experience and I rarely manage to be at the exact same point as the tutor at the end of a course. With that said I just wanted to say that even if I was able to follow everything there was moments were you were a bit too speedy. Most of the time your pace was good but all of a sudden sometimes you were like on hell mode and I had no choice but to pause the video go back and listen again once or twice. That might be the only aspect you could improve in your next videos. Cheers,

Gorka shows some very cool mechanics and systems of UE5. However this course is not good for complete beginners and even for those who are further in their Unreal learning journey it is not the most useful tutorial ever. He doesn't very often explain why things are being done or even what certain nodes and things he's doing are really doing at all. The pace of the course is way too fast overall. Also another issue is that this code, despite him saying so, is not fully modular and optimized. There's many places he could have shown how to do the same system with less hard references and less 'cast to' nodes so as not to load up the memory with every single object in the game. Also there are places where he copy pastes large groups of notes that could be easily condensed into functions or macros and re-used more efficiently. As a lower/intermediate Unreal user I certainly did learn a few things and it was cool to see how some different mechanics could be constructed and I also got some good practice on the engine. Overall I'm not mad I bought this course but it just felt like it could have been a lot better overall if he had taken the time to follow best practices at all times and slow down a little more to explain the "why" behind things more.

Despite the relative complexity of the course, it has generally been one of the easiest to follow along with. The instructor takes time to explain the more complex concepts at play and actively encourages good organizational habits. Some aspects of the course may prove more challenging for newer designers, particularly the reliance upon (The no longer free) quixel assets, but those with some experience finding alternatives should have little trouble locating alternatives. Overall, I'd recommend this course if you are interested in understanding the fundamentals of how more complex unreal components will fit together in elegant ways to create layered systems with lots of reusable code.

I had a lot of fun finishing the course and learned some new mechanics. Like mentioned in other ratings I highly recommend to start with a beginner course before jumping in this one to avoid any frustration. However, I'm not completely satisfied because there is not only a lack of explanations, but it also feels more like a go-trough than an educational course. On the one hand I liked that we didn't spend all our time on minor details, but on the other hand I was missing any positive impact on learning. All in all a good course. Gorka has a lot of potential to become one of the best Unreal teachers on Udemy.

I am most of the way through this course and it has been great! I have taken many Unreal Engine courses, so I do not need to learn the basics of UE5. I would say this is an intermediate course, and a very good one. If you are new to UE, I would suggest taking a beginner course before diving into this one.

I learned quite a bit and UE5 has changed making it a lot easier than UE4. You have a basic game, but with a few areas to be improved. Instead of switching on names, use either tags or have the type as part of the database of items. (Including which sockets to snap to) You changed around the animal AI to a later chapter, but had the tiger make a guest appearance in earlier videos. I managed to fix mistakes by re-watching the various parts. Overall I enjoyed the course.

I have taken many classes with UE. This is by far one of the best. Explained very thoroughly and obvious the instructor has developed in UE for some time. Many things that seems difficult in previous classes are much easier to understand and implement in this class. Thank you!
