Course Description
Ready to create third-person melee combat moments like your favourite AAA brawler games, and take your C++ skills to a new level in UE5?
Even if you're not a combat designer, this course is an awesome way to power-up your game dev toolkit. We’ll kick things off by coding a component for locking onto enemies, so you don’t have to keep messing with the camera. Focus on the fight, not the fiddling!
Next up, we’re diving into player combat. Learn how to make your game feel dynamic by cycling through multiple attack animations. Your characters won’t just fight—they’ll perform.
And what's combat without a killer stat system? You’ll build a scalable stat system using maps and enums. This makes sure your game can grow without turning into a tangled mess of code. It's all about writing clean, scalable code that lasts.
The enemies in your game won’t just stand there—they’ll be fierce! You’ll code an enemy AI that throws fireballs, charges at players, and keeps them on their toes. Your battles will be tough and thrilling, just like in the best action games.
This course isn’t like most others. We’re using C++ to write 90% of the game’s logic. Get ready to write over a thousand lines of code and pick up loads of new C++ tricks.
That’s a game-changer for anyone wanting to master Unreal Engine 5. You'll learn to use interfaces and design patterns like the observer pattern to make your game smart and efficient.
By the end, you’ll know how to build a game using advanced C++ skills and make it run smoothly. You’ll get confident with Unreal’s documentation, debug like a pro, and keep your code nice and tidy with best practices.
Got the basics of C++ down? Awesome! If you know your variables, conditional statements, classes, and methods, you’re ready to roll. This course will take you from basics to building a full-on action combat game. Avoid the nightmare of messy codebases and learn to do things right from the start.
So, what are you waiting for? Jump in, start coding, and let’s create something epic together (pun intended!).

I am loving this course , I came here after finishing Basic of C++ by Stephen Ulibarri, and found this course just what I wanted, this course is not really for begineers but the way instructor explains it's really easy to understand. Also for somelike me who has never touch c++ in unreal, this course is perfect but needs to know c++ in general to begin with.

Author shows how to implement fighting logic based on Behavior Trees. Also shows how to implement basic character functionality by using specialized components and broadcasting and receiving events between separate C++ classes. The course is rather directed to users who have a basic knowledge of C++ Unreal Engine already. So before taking this course leaarn "Unreal Engine 5 C++ The Ultimate Game Developer Course" by Stephen Ulibarri. And after that this course is natural next step in your learning curve.

the instructor honestly reminds me of some of the best mechanics I worked with in my career as an auto tech, explains things in a way that anybody can understand, and I really appreciate that and learned a lot. My advice to anyone else trying to take this course. Use the same engine version as the course. there is a lot of version mis match issues. I used 5.6 the course uses 5.3. I powered through it. and I don't recommend that for someone new to C++. Highly recommend this course and the instructor.

It starts off well - the explanations are in great detail. However some information is missing, in later chapters, which in turn the course had to be skipped in certain lectures. Its good, but it could have been better, in making sure all the code is up to date with all versions, hopefully they can look at the code and update it so that future students aren't scratching their heads to think, (Am I missing something)?

The complexity of UE C++ development has been broken down very clearly. The subtitle prompts and pronunciation are both very comfortable. Thank you to the author for the high-quality course.

The course was generally well put together and thought out, with useful descriptions of what was being done and why. Not necessarily a course for beginners, but good if you have some experience working with C++ and/or Unreal. Some of the suggested assets that were recommended to import were no longer available, and a couple of bugs that were introduced through the code weren't addressed until later with little comment.

Amazing course. I really appreciated the C++ in this course as I'm aiming to be a game developer with an emphasis on combat games, and this was just the course I needed t get started

This course offers valuable content, but it may not be the right fit for me. The description states that it's "ideal if you have a solid grasp of C++ concepts but are new to game development." While I have experience with Unreal Blueprint and C++ coding, I found myself struggling with about 50% to 60% of the material. Although I completed the course, I still don’t fully understand sections 5 and 6. At times, it felt like the instructor introduced code or functions without clear context. While he did provide supplementary resources, I admit I haven’t taken the time to read through them all. In my opinion, this course would be more suitable for intermediate or advanced learners.

Real solid course, so far I have refreshed a lot of topics that I previously known. I wished there were a bit more explanations, more in depth information about why we're doing some things (e.g., why use that delegate instead of another option, I'm talking about the multicast_sparse delegate) I'll update my rating once I'm finish with this. What I love most is that there are a lot of opportunities for us to apply what we learn throughout the course, not just mindless copy-paste. I love that the teacher forces its students to try and implement alone some features. I myself do everything in C++ so its good exercise to see how the teacher's doing it in blueprint (some parts) and for me to transform those blueprint logic into C++. Edit after finishing the course: Nothing much to be add or change for my previous message. However, what I would like to point out is that this course teaches you how to do features/functionalities. Don't go into this course to expect to learn best practices or how to code, or design principles, KISS methodologies, etc.. This course teaches you the fundamentals on how to develop several features that are a must, imo, for an Action Combat RPG and it does just that. Very solid course, highly recommend it.

I enjoyed the content about creating an icon. It's something I have just primarily overlooked and it's a great idea to use the visual aid for faster access to which project I'll be working on.
