Course Description
Want to learn how to make your own online multiplayer adventure games?
In this course you’ll use the latest Unreal Engine 5 features and C++ to do just that!
The main game in this course is a two player co-op action adventure game, but you can apply the code and principles to whatever type of online multiplayer game you want to make.
Along with learning all about level design, you’ll also create different gameplay features like pressure plates, movable platforms and doors, and collectible keys.
By the end of the course you’ll have a fun co-op adventure game you can play with your friend online. Plus the tools to continue to work on it and really make it your own!
Understanding online multiplayer is difficult, this course makes it simple by giving you easy to understand explanations and step by step examples.
Even if you understand the basics of multiplayer, it’s still difficult to make a multiplayer game. This course will teach you how to put your knowledge to practical use, showing you how to make a full game.
This is an intermediate course, so if you already know a bit of Unreal and have an understanding of basic coding concepts this is the course for you!
You’ll get full lifetime access for a single one-off fee. The creators are qualified and experienced with modelling and coding, so are able to explain complex concepts clearly, as well as entertain along the way.
You’ll also gain access to a course forum where you can discuss topics on a course-wide basis, or down to the individual video. Unreal Engine 5 C++ Multiplayer: Make an Online Co-op Game was a really fun experience. I took the course using version 5.7 and only ran into three hiccups: one with the Client ID, another with the batch file, and the last with QuerySettings.Set. Most of these issues were easy to resolve with a quick Google or ChatGPT search, and I usually found answers pretty fast. The information is extremely helpful, and the assignments are manageable, especially since many of them involve repeating similar tasks, which makes copying and pasting practical. I’ll admit I always had a hard time understanding Delegates, but this course solidified them in my head to the point where I’m not sure why I ever thought they were difficult. I’m still slightly confused about RPCs, but I now completely understand when to use Authority and what logic should run on the client. I would definitely say this course is a must if you want to understand replication. It’s one of my favorite courses. Thank you for all the work you put into it!

So far, so good. There is this constant thing of deleting the binaries, intermediate, and saved directories that seems to be unnecessary. I just have to grab my current IDE, and start/restart the Unity Editor from there. The previous lectures had some weird coding practices revolving around the server name to join, delete, etc, that looked out of place considering the way a multiplayer lobby system works (I shouldn't be able to delete an existing server just by using the same name). I know that it is due to the course way of explaining things but I think it should be refactored to avoid doing that cause it looked like a weird practice. Apart from that, it looks like the beginner course that I expected.

outstanding introductory course to the systems and development practices in unreal. I would have liked a more insightful code creation process that focused on best practices and scalable systems. For instance: - The use of the boolian to decide when to create a server which requires manual flipping on actions would lead to a nightmare in larger professional settings. - Using a destroy server if same name found i think can be largely considered to an undesirable outcome to any real game. While this is just a demo project, adhering to better practices and building more useful functions would be better content.

Good course for learning how to do multiplayer in Unreal Engine 5. Some tips I can give to the course creator(s): I see the "sources" part of every lecture contains the link to the changes in the code in gitlab. What I think would be nice is to also have screenshots available of the new state of some blueprints so I can check if I hooked everything up correctly. Maybe you could even share them here on blueprintUE: https://blueprintue.com/ Another thing: Sometimes the teacher clicks through the interface of the editor real quickly and I have to rewind to see what he did exactly. If you're navigating through the interface I would do that a bit slower so I can follow without having to pause/rewind the whole time.

For this short lesson, he teaches you the fundamentals of unreal enging Online and it's more than I expected. Very well explained and I'd recommend it to someone starting to make online games on Unreal. GOOD JOB!

This is a great beginner/intermediate course to run through to get familiar with multiplayer concepts in UE5. The instructor is thorough in explanations and video quality/editing is also very good. They also offer mini challenges throughout the course to let students test their knowledge and grasp of what is being taught which I appreciated. I was able to run through this course with 5.3 and the only minor issue I ran into was fixed quickly due to the Q&A responses. I only selfishly wish there was more content to run through, but definitely feel like I got a lot from the course and would definitely recommend it.

The reason I don't give it full 5 stars is because of some practices used in this course. This course talks about intermediate programming however doesn't actually use intermediate level programming. eg Instructor uses Actor's Tick function to check for overlaps instead of making use of OnComponentBeginOverlap delegate of box components. There are tiny things like this which makes it below excellent. I felt some more content could also be added that you see in co-op games eg, traveling from one level to another, transient levels, player individual inventory, lobbies etc. This is my personal opinion. By no means this is a bad course, it's great for beginners.

This is a good follow-up course for those who studied and watched the first C++ Unreal Engine video. If you have no experience with C++ and Unreal this course will go fast. Note this is to understand multiplayer in Unreal Engine 5 and the project you all work on is only to showcase that. I highly recommend integrating the multiplayer aspect into another game especially ones made in the first course.

Very good explanation of how basic multiplayer works in Unreal Engine 5.2 Make sure to use UE 5.2, as some of the newer versions may have bugs that make your game unplayable over multiplayer.

Great tutorial for beginners starting to learn multiplayer. Kaan has good explanations as well. I am happy with the content of the course and what I learned so far, I recommend this course! In addition to above: I changed rating to 5 stars :)
