James Doyle

Hi, I'm James. I have helped thousands of people learn how to develop their own games in Unity, and whether you're a first-time developer, or need to refresh your skills, I can help you learn to make the games you want to make.

With a bachelors degree in Computer Science and a background working in independent game development, I have been helping others to create their own games and release them on multiple platforms.

I believe in helping you learn by teaching code in context, so rather than having to memorize a bunch of stuff you've never seen before, you learn how each coding concept can be applied to real working problems in your games.

I can't wait to help you learn all about making your own games and how to make them a success.

So why not start learning to make games with me now?

See you soon!

James

James delivers a very easy way to develop a store simulator game with this course. The coding practices are targeted to beginners but advanced programmers can use this template to refactor it as practice.

Step by Step - very good and detailed explainations. That said, it's not professional Studio like! But that said too, it's perfectly for beginners! Really simple, not overloaded and to the Point! Learning by doing - and hell: understanding things. Mostly all Tutors are overmotivated by making things complicated. That's why i recommend this tutorial! It's on point with simple and easy results. I love it!

Very clear to understand. I am new to all of this so the fact he's going slow and explaining what to do clearly is a BIG help for me. some other courses I've seen go to fast and i have to back up the video just to understand what's going on. I hate doing that over and over again so I just move on at some point.

Positives: Author has a casual way of coding with the user, its almost like being a natural process, like your working side by side. Negatives: Author makes a number of mistakes that should not have made it to final edit. There is a general lack of design. C# is not being taught in any detail. References to "over here" or "open that" are extremely unwelcome when trying to keep up with the course, please be more explicit. Overall, with more emphasis on design and a clearer more planned approach, this would be a very good course. Thank you for putting this together.

Great course! Professionally I work as a full-stack + applications developer, and recently have been curious about game development. I enjoyed this course a lot because it sort of skips straight to the "how it's made" pieces, without spending too time on C# language focus. I think it would maybe be a little fast for people coming in with absolutely zero programming experience. But the pacing here worked well for me. All that to say, I think the course was great and I learned a lot.

James excels at teaching through demonstration in an easy to follow style, making learning game development fun and rewarding through doing, quickly. This approach is an excellent way to avoid getting bogged down and get straight to the fun. It's perfect for novices and intermediate Unity users. Either can gain a solid foundation of the basic mechanics of the genre to extend or refactor to their heart's content as they continue to advance.

Another excellent course by James. Learned a lot from this course and would highly recommend to anyone. Contains all the basics you need to know to make a great store simulator.

By David Prince on 11/3/2025

I really enjoyed this course as with all courses James does. The only feedback i would like to pass on is to maybe try to keep the code cleaner and possibly include gamepad also, this is 2025 afterall, thanks James

Wow, what a course. James has once again put together a truly excellent course. I've been looking for a course like this for a long time, one where you can learn the basics of sales simulation. The best part is that it's connected to Unity. If you're also looking for these kinds of basics, then this course is definitely for you. Whether you're a beginner or already have experience with Unity, this course is very informative. However, it should be noted that it really only covers the core mechanics; things like customer reviews, shop ratings, and statistics of all kinds are not covered here, as these are more advanced topics. Perhaps James will be willing to release a second part for the shop system or update this course with advanced topics. I would definitely welcome that. In summary, this course explains everything you need to know about the core mechanisms. I can recommend this course to anyone interested in this genre.

The course is really cool. Since I'm Brazilian, I don't understand some things in English, but I can follow the class. But the course is really good, and the games are really fun. A good foundation!
